Idol Star Athletics Championship (ISAC) 2022: Lineup, Categories, Filming Date, More
Following confirmation of face-to-face ISAC after two years, the lineup, filming date, venue and more are finally revealed! Here are the stars and idols who will be attending the event!
ISAC Lineup 2022 + MCs, Venue, Categories, Filming Date
Amid the spread of COVID-19, Idol Star Athletic Championship (ISAC), which has not been shown since the 2020 Lunar New Year special, will finally be revived in 2022.
For this year, the MCs who will lead the MBC entertainment program and Chuseok special were first announced on July 19, saying:
"Jeon Hyun Moo, FT Island's Lee Hongki, and TWICE's Dahyun have been confirmed as the main MCs."
Sports commentators will also be joining the MCs including Lee Hongki himself, idol dancer-choreographer Aiki and Park Ji Eun, a former dance sports athlete.
Due to the pandemic, the number of sports available will only be limited to five:
- track and field (sprint, relay)
- archery
- dance sports (new event added in 2022)
- futsal
- e-sports
On the official SNS of the idols, a notice was posted on the MBC 2022 Chuseok Special 'Idol' placard design application notice, and news of some idols' participation became known.

Depending on the availability of the idols, there may be changes to the ISAC lineup.
On the other hand, the 2022 Chuseok Special ISAC will record each event on July 30 and August 1.
The recording on the 30th will be held at the public hall of the MBC new building in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, and the recording on the 1st of August will be held at the Goyang Gymnasium.
The 2022 Chuseok Special is scheduled to air during the Chuseok holiday in 2022.
Face-to-face ISAC 2022 Draws Mixed Reactions
While the 2022 Chuseok Special Idol Star Championship' (ISAC) initially received positive responses, some fans are complaining in regards to the recording notice.
According to the notice, the attendance check time is 5:30 a.m. KST on August 1, the day of the recording, and the closing time is 6:10 p.m. KST.
The maximum number of participants is 100, but it may change depending on the fandom. The limited seats for fandoms were understandable, but the following rules made fans raise their brows.
In the notice, it was stated that:
"Eating and is prohibited due to quarantine. We ask for your understanding in this part."
Upon hearing the notice, Internet users responded in a variety of ways, such as:
- "If you ban eating, fans will starve."
- "You have to feed them when they have more than 10 hours to record."
- "It's like entering a fasting center to see idols."
- "You can give them lunchtime separately."
Amid the excitement, some fandom are now moving to push for the abolition of ISAC conveying opinions such as:
- "Why are you doing "Idol Star Athletics Championships" when Corona is re-emerging?"
- "Idols (will be) injured, and fans who went can't eat properly."
