5 Female K-pop Idols Who Successfully Launched Their Own Companies

It is common in the K-pop industry to remain signed under a company for several years, especially after making their debut. While some idols re-sign with a company, others decide to pursue a different one that aligns with their ambitions. But aside from those who choose to go to another company, some end up launching their own!

With that, here are five female K-pop idols who have successfully launched their own entertainment companies!

Yubin was previously signed under "Big 4" company JYP Entertainment after debuting with her former group, Wonder Girls. But after several years with the company, she decided to leave and launch her own in February 2020. Yubin founded rrr Entertainment, which means "real recognize real," which currently houses fellow former Wonder Girls member Hyerim and Taekwondo athlete Shin Min Chul. As the founder and CEO of rrr Entertainment, Yubin has become more realistic, responsible, and more attentive to what others think.

Former 2NE1 member and leader CL was signed and had been under YG Entertainment for over a decade for her promotions with the group. Initially, she re-signed with YG Entertainment after 2NE1's disbandment. But after three years, she parted ways with the company and went on to launch Very Cherry. The idea behind the company is to create a core team of professionals who are cherry-picked by CL, for CL herself.

Unlike CL, a former 2NE1 member did not re-sign with YG Entertainment and moved to Music Works instead. After being with Music Works for four years, she parted ways with the company and launched her own called MZ Entertainment. Besides being the CEO, Minzy is also in charge of training the next generation of artists and managing some of the music and performances as the company's general producer.
