Yeri Draws Attention for Personal Style vs Red Velvet Image
On August 2, Yeri becomes a hot topic on the online community Nate Pann after her airport photos were uploaded by a netizen.
In the post, previews taken from the fansite @/taechronic featured Yeri, who had just arrived at the Incheon International Airport after a schedule in London.
In the photos, Yeri wore a black shirt and jacket. She accessorized her look by wearing a headband and sunglasses. She completed the 'fit with denim pants and a green handbag.
Although she looked cool in her outfit, the post's author expressed regrets over Yeri's style outside Red Velvet.
The netizen stated:
"It seems like there's a huge gap between the style Yeri wants to pursue herself and the style that fans and the public want for her."

The author highlighted that Yeri was known for her innocent and cute concept following her debut in Red Velvet as the maknae. But, as she's growing up, and she also wants to pursue her preferences; that's why it's understandable to dress in such a way.
However, the uploader also pointed out:
"But it's not like fans absolutely demand her to follow an innocent style either. They just want Yeri to dress in a way that fits her [...] Yeri has always been pretty, so she would look good with just a simple style... Seriously, there are so many regrettable parts."
As soon as the post was uploaded, it earned about 170k views, and K-pop fans and netizens expressed their mixed reactions.
Some agreed with the original writer and uploaded photos of Yeri with simple makeup and a fluttering dress that emphasized her youthful beauty.
"Here's a picture of Yeri that I adore so much. She looks so pretty with just light makeup and comfortable clothes.
I really think that she needs to change her style [...] Yeri possesses a vibrant vibe and energy, but it seems like I can't feel it anymore. It's a shame."
On the flip side, some fans, especially ReVeLuv (fandom), defended Yeri and commented:
"But that's literally an airport picture, isn't that a place where you wear plain clothes that you're comfortable with? Amid the discussion, another issue rose, accusing Yeri of imitating Jennie's style once again. In the post, Yeri's airport photos were compared to the speculated photo of Jennie with BTS V.
In that photo, the BLACKPINK member wore a headband with her hair tied at the back and shades. Netizens said that it was really similar to Yeri's recent look.
Some K-Netz agreed; however, fans immediately criticized the author and said:

- "I wore that sunglasses a lot too, but it's a big deal only for Yeri?"

This is not the first time Yeri has been accused of imitating Jennie. In 2020, the Red Velvet maknae received malicious comments after netizens accused her of copying Jennie's style in the outfit, makeup, and Instagram feed.
