EVERGLOW Sihyeon's Family Background: Is She Really BTS Jin's Cousin?
In 1999, Sihyeon was born in Bundang-gu, Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. She grew up with her parents, a grandmother and an older brother, making her the "princess" of the family.
In K-pop, Forever, the fandom of EVERGLOW claims that Sihyeon is actually a distant cousin of global idol BTS Jin. According to social media platforms, this was mentioned by EVERGLOW members during a now-deleted V Live broadcast. It was allegedly confirmed by the members as well during an interview.
However, there are NO receipts that this is a fact, as the said article and video are also nowhere to be seen.
In conclusion, this is only a rumor yet to be confirmed by the two idols.
Kim Sihyeon in 'Produce 101,' '48' Participation
Although Gyeonggi is far from Seoul, Sihyeon decided to pursue her dreams of being an idol and moved to the capital to become a trainee. Despite being the only girl in the family, her parents were supportive and permitted her to follow her aspirations.
In 2016, her face became known in the K-pop scene after joining Mnet's survival show, "Produce 101." She initially joined as an independent trainee and was eliminated in Episode 8. Following the show, Yue Hua scouted her in their company and signed with them.
In 2018, the Yue Hua trainee Sihyeon joined Mnet's "Produce" series for the second time. Unfortunately, she was eliminated in Episode 11, completing the show at No. 27.

When she joined the program, Sihyeon became a hot topic for her strong resemblance with former Miss A Bae Suzy. The trainee was praised for her stunning visual, innocent and youthful image similar to the "Nation's First Love."

Kim Sihyeon's Debut as EVERGLOW's Leader
Despite failing to debut in I.O.I and IZ*ONE, Sihyeon finally had her much-awaited debut in 2019. She became the first one to be officially introduced as an EVERGLOW member and became the team's leader, visual, the face of the group and lead vocalist.
She wasn't originally the leader but E.U.; although the latter passed the position to Sihyeon during their "Last Melody" promotions.
