On August 12, the K-pop music sales site ktown4u officially confirmed that:

"BLACKPINK's second studio album, "BORN PINK," which started selling at 11 a.m. KST on the 11th, achieved the No. 1 spot in K-pop chart girl group history for the most pre-ordered album on its first day."

In particular, ktown4u's album sales in countries around the world, including China and Japan, are counted based on order and payment. Based on their record, the album that has been ordered surpassed 100,000 copies (142k) on the first day.

With this, BLACKPINK became the girl group with the highest pre-order sales, beating NewJeans record of 81k. In fact, they snatched the position in just 8 hours, after surpassing 84k pre-ordered albums.

They also beat their previous personal record, beating the 41k sales of its first studio album, "THE ALBUM" released in October 2020.

Due to the influx of K-pop fans especially BLINKs fandom) who want to secure a copy of the group's album, ktown4u explained that the server was down for about two hours as domestic and foreign orders flocked as soon as the sales started.

As a result, Vice CEO Lee Jong Kyun said:

"For the convenience of customers, we will increase reliability by upgrading the data aggregation method by the end of the year. We will launch ktown4u Chart App 1.0 to provide services."

Meanwhile, BLACKPINK will make a comeback as a full group after a year and 10 months with the second full-length album "BORN PINK." The album will officially be released on September 16.

Ahead of its release, YG Entertainment announced that BLACKPINK will first unveil a pre-release track, "PINK VENOM" on August 19. This song is said to express the quartet's unique and intense charm more than what they showed in their past releases.

In line with their much-awaited return, YG also revealed their plan to carry out BLACKPINK's world tour of about 1.5 million people for eight months and will release large-scale projects suitable for the status of the world's top group one after another.

As this is a comeback of the "Whistle" singer as a whole after a long time, two new music videos with the highest production costs of YG are scheduled to be released.

Expectations are high about what kind of records will the group make to cement their reputation as "YouTube Queen."

Not only fans but also leading foreign media such as the U.S. Billboard and the U.K. NME expected their major global chart performance, saying:

"BLACKPINK which the world has been waiting for is finally returning."
