On Aug. 23, E Daily released an exclusive report stating that Weki Meki Yoojung will make her solo debut in September.
The media outlet said that a music industry official told them that Choi Yoojung is scheduled to release her first solo song and complete solo activities next month. They added that the female idol is currently in the final stages of preparing for her solo career.

This would mark her solo debut after six years since she became a member of I.O.I in 2016, as well as her first solo release in five years since she re-debuted in Fantagio's girl group Weki Meki.

Among the former I.O.I members, Choi will be the fourth one to go solo (following Jeon Somi, Kim Chungha, and Kim Sejeong), while she's the first Weki Meki member to do so.

As of this writing, Fantagio has not released an official statement to respond to the news. But netizens are already expressing their excitement on an online community.
Shortly after E Daily published its exclusive report, the news was shared on The Qoo. The comments section was quickly filled with positive reactions. Below are a few of the comments:

Meanwhile, Weki Meki Yoojung recently collaborated with rapper Ahn Byung Woong for the newest installment of the "With KozyPop" project, titled "UH-RA?" (produced by dress).
"UH-RA?" features a groovy beat and an addictive melody, topped with emotional lyrics about a couple who broke up and are missing each other. The track was produced by dress, who is known for previously working on EXO Baekhyun's "UN Village."

Weki Meki's latest comeback took place on Nov. 18 last year with their fifth EP "I Am Me." The mini-album contains six total songs including the title track "Siesta."

In the first week of sales, Weki Meki's "I Am Me" sold a total of 7,963 copies on the Hanteo Chart, marking their second-highest first-week sales in their career. Their biggest first-week sales figure to date is 11,013 copies sold by their debut album "WEME" in 2017.
