Euijin Reveals Truth Behind SONAMOO's Disbandment

Recently, former SONAMOO member Euijin made a guest appearance on the Youtube channel KPOP IDOL OLYMPIC, where she appeared to promote her new solo song "Churup!" under her new stage name Hezz.

During her appearance on the show, she talked about her win on the survival program The Unit, and what subsequently happened following her return to her original group SONAMOO. In particular, she revealed the truth behind the group's unfortunate disbandment.

Back in 2014, TS Entertainment debuted their seven-member girl group SONAMOO. Since their debut, SONAMOO didn't receive any proper support from the agency, which led to the members quickly second-guessing their future. In fact, TS Entertainment even launched a crowdfunding project just to give SONAMOO a comeback.

After the group made a comeback during the summer in 2017, Euijin halted her activities with the group to participate in The Unit, where she was given a chance to debut in the project group UNI.T after placing first among the trainees on the show.

Normally, idols joining project groups would bring in the attention needed to their original groups, which usually leads to a comeback. However, this wasn't the case for SONAMOO.

Ex-SONAMOO Euijin Reveals TS Entertainment Was Crumbling Down

While Euijin was competing on the show, it seemed that TS Entertainment had big changes. According to Euijin, while she was ready to return to her group and promote with them, her fellow members were already seeking other jobs after losing hope for SONAMOO's future promotions.

Euijin even revealed that employees had began to slowly leave TS Entertainment at the time. But despite that, she tried to make SONAMOO work. She and her fellow members had discussed sub-units or even solo promotions as an alternative to a group comeback.

Euijin even thought of their entire comeback's concept, from the styling and designs, plans, and music video as the agency's number of staff was quickly decreasing.

However, it wasn't until two more years that they were able to make a comeback with their single "Promise You" in 2019, which excluded members Nahyun and Sumin. When the single was released, "Promise You" didn't have a music video, nor any promotions.

Unfortunately, that signaled the end of SONAMOO, as Euijin herself confirmed that the group had disbanded in 2021.

Despite their willingness to make their group succeed, it ultimately failed due to TS Entertainment's lack of support.
