Which is the best K-pop agency when it comes to vocals? In a broadcast, 2PM Wooyoung hilariously dissed J.Y. Park when asked about the difference between JYP and SM's singing methods. Meanwhile, Xiumin praised their producer, stating the reason.
2PM Wooyoung Reveals JYP's Singing Style + Diss Producer's Vocals
On September 25, KBS 2TV's entertainment program "Hong Kim Dong Jeon," featured EXO Xiumin, NU'EST Baekho, and model Jung Hyuk as special guests. Along with them, other cast joined them including Kim Sook Joo Woo Jae, Hong Jin Kyung, Jo Se Ho and 2PM Wooyoung.
During the broadcast, the main cast and comedian Jo Se Ho expressed curiosity to the two idols Xiumin and Wooyoung present in the show and asked:
"I'm really curious about something, Isn't SM and JYP singing method different, right?"
In response, Wooyoung and Xiumin replied:
"Right| It's totally different."
Just then, the 2PM Wooyoung explained JYP Entertainment's singing style and introduced the famous "half air half sound" method.

The singer asked:
"Do you know why Park Jinyoung (J.Y. Park) calls it the 'half air half sound'?"
He then started singing their hit track, "My House" to convey the singing style properly and said:
"When you’re singing without too much breathing it gets hanged like this, but if you release air, you'll sing it this way. Jinyoung hyung said to look for the middle of that."
The members who were impressed by Wooyoung's singing skills such as Hong Jin Kyung further asked the idol:
"Park Jinyoung thinks he's a good singer, right?
In response, Wooyoung hilariously dissed their founder and producer saying:
"That's now the company's most chronic problem so far," causing everyone to laugh.
Wooyoung even boldly told the production team:
"Please release this (clip)," stimulating the laughter of the viewers once again.
EXO Xiumin Hints at SM Entertainment's Singing Style, Teases Upcoming Debut
Meanwhile, Jo Se Ho also asked Xiumin about the "SM singing method." In particular, the agency is home to amazing vocalists, such as SNSD Taeyeon, Super Junior Kyuhyun, EXO Baekhyun and more, known for their clean vocals.
Xiumin replied:
"Producer Yoo Young Jin, the founder of SMP (SM Music Performance) uses a different singing method than Park Jinyoung.
He sings so well and we also worked on my solo album together this time."
Wooyoung expressed her expectations, saying:
"The song must be so good."
On September 26, EXO Xiumin will finally debut as a solo artist, 10 years after his debut.
Xiumin's first mini-album, "Brand New" will be released on various music sites at 6 p.m. KST and the music video of the title song with the same name can be seen simultaneously on the YouTube SMTOWN channel.
The album contains a total of five songs in various moods, including the title song "Brand New," and is expected to receive a hot response as you can meet music that expresses the musical sensibility of the 1990s and early 2000s in a variety of ways in Xiumin style.
