On October 4 at 6pm KST, Red Velvet member Seulgi finally makes her debut as a solo artist, eight years after officially making her debut with the group in August 2014. This also marks Seulgi as the third Red Velvet member to go solo, following members Wendy and Joy, who both made their solo debut in 2021.

Seulgi raised excitement with her solo debut mini album "28 Reasons," which showcases her transformation and an intense charm that is different from the image she has been showing as a member of Red Velvet.

"28 Reasons" contains a total of six tracks, featuring a title track of the same name. Other songs included are "Dead Man Runnin," to which Seulgi participated in writing the lyrics for, "Bad Boy, Sad Girl" featuring rapper Be'O, "Anywhere But Home," "Los Angeles," and "Crown."

For "28 Reasons," the song is a pop dance track featuring groovy and heavy bass sounds with whistle effects. Lyrically, the song is about raising questions regarding the numerous reasons surrounding a relationship.

Seulgi on Finally Making Her Solo Debut

To commemorate her solo debut, Seulgi also held a press conference on the same day.

During the press conference, Seulgi shared that her fellow Red Velvet members gave her a lot of support while preparing to make her solo debut. She said, "They have me advice and support. They really had a lot of willpower. I felt very afraid of not having the members [with me]."

Seulgi also shared that she talked about her solo debut a lot with Wendy and Joy, since they already experienced debuting solo.

"I texted them on the day I was filming my music video. Wendy told me, 'You can do well,' through the voice chat. Joy also told me not to worry with a long text message, and Irene and Yeri told me that I was the best," Seulgi shared.

On why it took her a long time to make her solo debut, Seulgi stated, "I officially started preparing for this album early this year. I wanted to release a solo album and show my colors after I've gained more experience and become more decent. So, now, eight years after debut, seemed like the right time."

As a solo artist, she says her goal is herself, as she is looking forward to "Seulgi" and what new music she will bring.
