On October 3, 2022, Rolling Stone sat down with producer Soraya LaPread, who helped work with BLACKPINK for their latest album, "BORN PINK." During the Rolling Stone interview, it was revealed that one of the songs from the album almost did not make it, as it was meant to be sung by Doja Cat.

What song is that? It is "Tally," the seventh track on the album!
Tally" is a mid-tempo pop song that fuses hip-hop and rock, with"crunchy" guitar sounds at the start of the track. Lyrically, "Tally" is about positivity and the beauty of achieving life's goals. The BLACKPINK song "embodies a free, yet elegant mood," which allows the members to present their free spirit while speaking openly about the importance of being true to one's self.
During the interview with Rolling Stone, Soraya LaPread confessed she worked on the song years ago and had actually forgotten about it. She told Rolling Stone,
"I had forgotten about the song. As a musician and producer, you go into the studio, spend a lot of time, think of a lot of ideas, and sometimes these ideas pop out of nowhere again."
The producer then revealed that she only remembered the song after songwriter Nat Dunn expressed liking for the track and offered to buy it. Additionally, Doja Cat was one of the artists who potentially received the song to release. Bebe Rexha also received the track but denied it.

Soraya LaPread expressed her gratitude for Nat Dunn, as the songwriter believed in the song and was pushing for its release. She said,
"Nat Dunn was trying to get that song out. She believed in it, and it made me realize what it is like to believe in a song and to believe in a track and to push it out because you know that people will love it, that it is an amazing idea, an amazing concept."
Ultimately, the song ultimately went to BLACKPINK, thanks to Nat Dunn's perseverance in releasing the song. Many are happy that it fell into BLACKPINK's hands, but some still wonder how Doja Cat would have released the song.

Despite that, BLINKs agree that BLACKPINK gave justice to "Tally," bringing their own color to the track.
