Kim Hyun Joong in 2005 to 2018: Idol Career, 'Hallyu Star' Fame, Controversy, Hiatus
In 2005, Kim Hyun Joong made his debut in the K-pop scene as ss501's leader and main dancer. The group enjoyed massive success in Japan and Korea just right after the group was launched by DSP Media, gaining multiple rookie awards at the time.
Kim Hyun Joong then expands his influence after he successfully established his name in the acting industry. He was notable for hit dramas, "Boys Over Flowers" (2009) and "Mischievous Kiss" (2010).
Unfortunately, amid Hyun Joong's popularity, ss501 went into hiatus in 2010 after leaving the agency. The members then pursued respective activities, Hyun Joong debuting as a soloist in the following year.
He became one of the biggest "Hallyu Star" in the 2010s until 2014 happened when he suffered from one of the most shocking controversies in the entertainment scene.
From 2014 to 2020, Hyun Joong faced damage to his reputation and "white prince" image that led to his hiatus in the Korean broadcast after his ex-girlfriend accused him of assaulting her which caused severe injuries and a miscarriage. The ex-girlfriend also claimed that Kim pushed her to have an abortion.
Multiple lawsuits and counter-lawsuit happened and in the end, the court ruled in favor of Kim Hyun Joong, stating that there was no evidence regarding the claims of the ex-girlfriend.
Amid the legal dispute, Kim Hyun Joong had a child with his ex-girlfriend out of wedlock.

Despite huge destruction to his name, "Forever Hallyu Star" Hyun Joong is still alive and well.
After about three years of hiatus in the music scene, Kim Hyun Joong dropped the first installment of his third full-length album, "MY SUN" in August. The album consists of 12 songs in total divided into 3 parts. Four songs each will be released every three months; August, November and February 2023.
Following his much-awaited comeback, Hyun Joong also met fans through concerts, both in Korea and international countries as part of his "The End of A Dream World Tour."
He already visited Korea, Japan, Mexico, Colombia, Peru, and Bolivia and will stop next in Chile, New York, Las Vegas and Los Angeles.
Kim Hyun Joong is not active in broadcasting, but he is also popular on YouTube.
He has more than 1 million subscribers, a measure of YouTube's success. As of the 6th, his YouTube subscribers are confirmed to be 1.1 million.
In regards to his personal life, Kim also found his new happiness after starting a new family, with his current wife who stood by him during a difficult time, and is also his "first love." Kim's wife is currently pregnant and will be having his second child.
