5 K-pop Groups That Are Hugely Popular in Certain Countries [Updated 2023]

Although K-pop groups usually strive to attain popularity in their home country, South Korea, it can't be helped that they also earn a great deal of attention from outside of the country. In fact, K-pop artists now are also focusing on promoting themselves to international fans.

While multiple groups have a good following in almost every country around the world, there are some that boast a huge amount of popularity in specific regions.

With that, here are some of the K-pop groups who are hugely popular in certain countries.

1. Lapillus - Philippines

Despite their rookie status, MLD Entertainment's girl group Lapillus is enjoying a good amount of popularity. In particular, the group is especially popular in the Philippines, and a big factor to that is because of their Filipino-Argentinian member, Chanty!

Prior to debuting with the group, Chanty was already in the entertainment industry in the Philippines, where she worked as an actress and model.

2. KARD - Brazil

When KARD made their debut, they drew attention for being a co-ed group, which isn't as common now in the industry like it was before.

But since then, KARD has so far gained a big following among Latin American countries, like Brazil. This is likely due to the group's songs, which are usually tropical house music, that cater to Brazilian fans' music preferences.

3. SECRET NUMBER - Indonesia

SECRET NUMBER made their debut back in May 2020, initially with five members. Just like Lapillus' case, SECRET NUMBER gained popularity in Indonesia as one of their members, Dita, is Indonesian. Not only that, but she is the first-ever Indonesian to debut as a K-pop idol, making the attention of her fellow countrymen go to the group.

4. MOMOLAND - Philippines

Another group that showed immense popularity in the Philippines is Lapillus' senior labelmate, MOMOLAND.

While there is no Filipino member in their group, MOMOLAND was able to capture the hearts of numerous Filipinos when their song "BBoom BBoom" became viral and a craze in the country. In fact, the song was so popular, that it was literally played wherever you go.

In February 2023, the girl group sadly announced their disbandment.

5. ENHYPEN - Japan

In general, Japan is a country where K-pop is very popular, especially because most groups actively promote there. But ENHYPEN boasts a huge following among Japanese fans, party due to their origin survival show I-LAND being well-received there.

In addition, ENHYPEN themselves have one Japanese member, Ni-ki.
