The online seller of BTS Jungkook's hat, which the idol supposedly left unknowingly at the Foreign Affairs Ministry, has given the item to the police and turned themselves in.

On Oct. 26, media outlets reported that the Seocho Police Station revealed on the 25th that the person, who claimed to be a government official working at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and attempted to sell BTS Jungkook's hat, approached a police box personnel in Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do on the 18th, surrendered, and handed over the item.

The police also said that they are currently conducting an investigation to verify the facts about the listing that is selling the hat. If the item is actually Jungkook's, the government official will be charged with embezzlement of stolen property, which is punishable by imprisonment for not more than a year or a fine not exceeding three million won.

If the seller is the manager of the lost and found section at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, they will be charged with business embezzlement. Business embezzlement is a felony punishable by imprisonment for not more than 10 years or a fine not exceeding 30 million won.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs Park Jin commented in a general audit of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade at the National Assembly Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee on the 24th, "An internal investigation into the sale of Jungkook's hat by an employee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is under way. If it is confirmed to be true, it will be dealt with strictly in accordance with relevant regulations."

On Oct. 17, an item was listed on a selling/buying/trading website. The item in question was a Kangol hat supposedly worn by BTS Jungkook and was sold for 10 million won (approximately 6,970 USD). The seller identified themself as an employee at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and even uploaded their work ID as proof.

However, the ID is marked as "public employee ID," which is given to civilian workers who participate in the work of assisting public officials.

In Korea, a person who has discovered a lost item must report it to a police station within seven days and submit the found item. The person who found the item cannot claim ownership of the item if the acquirer consistently possesses the found item without reporting it to the police or even if the owner does not show up at the police station to claim it.

BTS Jungkook's Recent Activities

To date, no announcement has been made regarding BTS Jungkook's solo activities but the idol had a few activities in the past nine months.

On June 10, Jungkook returned to the music scene along with his fellow BTS members. They released an anthology album titled "Proof," which features the title track "Yet to Come." "Proof" impressively recorded the second-biggest first-week sales on the Hanteo Chart in history.

On June 13 at midnight KST, Jungkook celebrated BTS's ninth anniversary with a special release, a new song titled "My You," which he produced alongside Hiss Noise. He dedicated this track to ARMY (BTS's fandom).

On June 24, Jungkook dropped his collab song "Left and Right" with Charlie Puth. With "Left and Right," Jungkook has become the only second K-pop soloist in history to chart a song for three weeks on Billboard Hot 100 following PSY, who attained the feat twice with his iconic hits "Gangnam Style" and "Gentleman" back in 2012 and 2013.
