6 K-pop Idols Who Wrote Songs With Other Artists in Mind [Updated 2023]

When it comes to writing songs, inspiration can come from anyone. For instance, some K-pop idols were inspired to write songs because of other artists. Here are six of those incidents.

6 K-pop Idols Who Wrote Songs With Other Artists in Mind

1. BTS V

V, also known as Taehyung, wrote a song titled "4 O'Clock" with his fellow BTS member Jimin in mind. Specifically, he was thinking about a certain fight they got themselves into.

V and Jimin once fought because of dumplings. At that time, V had just finished filming a scene for "Hwarang" and asked his manager to buy him dumplings. He then went to the practice room with a bag of dumplings, but he couldn't eat them immediately since Jimin told them they had to start practicing and V should just eat afterwards.

But since he was already hungry, V couldn't wait to eat the dumplings. This was the start of the drama and they ended up not talking to each other for two days. V then asked Jimin to meet him at a park and that's where they reconciled. The song "4 O'Clock" was the time the two met at the park.

2. TWICE Nayeon

In recent years, Nayeon has written songs that are later included in TWICE's albums. One of them is titled "Rainbow."

3. Red Velvet Yeri

One of Red Velvet Yeri's original songs is inspired by her fellow member Wendy. It is titled "These days."

In episode 16 of "Yeri's Room," she shared this fun fact, saying, "The lyrics were based on what I've been thinking these days. It's about my mind. And also, I thought of our member, Wendy, as the protagonist of these lyrics. I told Wendy that, and she really loved it."

4. Sunmi

Sunmi is another example of a K-pop idol who got her inspiration for writing a song from another artist. In particular, she wrote "Secret Tape" (off of her "WARNING" album) while thinking about Red Velvet Seulgi.

Actually, she wrote the track even before she met Seulgi to film for "Secret Unnie." The song was only in the early stages during their filming for the variety show and she was able to finish it with all of the special memories together they had on "Secret Unnie."

5. Stray Kids Bang Chan

Among the many songs that Bang Chan wrote, composed, and produced, there's this track titled "4419." It was named after the bus Bang Chan and GOT7 BamBam used to take during their trainee days.

In the song, the Stray Kids member expressed his feelings of loneliness after BamBam debuted as a member of GOT7.

"4419" was first performed on Mnet's survival show "Stray Kids" when the Stray Kids members, who were still trainees at that time, were split into three groups and had to perform a song.

6. ATEEZ Hongjoong

ATEEZ Hongjoong is another K-pop idol who wrote a song while thinking about another artist. His song "Thank U (Friend)" was inspired by his bandmate and friend Seonghwa.

In the track, Hongjoong expresses his gratitude toward Seonghwa for being a great friend and being with him even during the toughest times in his life.
