The top 20 most popular K-pop songs played in karaokes in Japan this 2022 have been revealed - and the track sitting at No. 1 isn't a new release. Check out the list below!

Most Popular K-pop Karaoke Songs in Japan in 2022 (Top 1 to 5)

On Dec. 20, a post titled "The Most Played K-pop Songs in Japanese Karaokes in 2022" was created on the online community Instiz, revealing the 20 tracks that people in Japan usually sing in karaokes.

The K-pop song that surprisingly claimed first place on the list is a 2020 release that belongs to BTS, which is none other than "Dynamite." This song made history this year with the RIAJ certifications it received, further proving the song's immense popularity in Japan.

Last February, "Dynamite" received a diamond certification after surpassing 500 million streams, making BTS the first foreign artist to ever earn a diamond certification for streaming in Japan.

The second most popular K-pop song in Japanese karaokes this 2022 is another BTS song- their 2021 hit "Butter." Notably, "Butter" is also an English-language release of the septet.

Coming in at No. 3 is a track belonging to "monster rookie" IVE, specifically their debut song "ELEVEN" that was released back in December 2021. The sextet also managed to occupy No. 5 on the list with their MMA and MAMA-award winning song "LOVE DIVE."

The fourth spot was secured by another rookie girl group song, which is also a debut song, particularly Kep1er's "WA DA DA." This track was certified platinum for streams by RIAJ just six months after its release.

Most Popular K-pop Karaoke Songs in Japan in 2022 (Top 6 to 10)

Sitting at No. 6 on the list is BTS's third entry in the top 10- their third English hit "Permission to Dance." This project ranked 23rd on Billboard Japan's 2022 Year-End Hot 100 chart.

aespa's "Savage," which came out in October 2021, is the seventh most popular K-pop karaoke song in Japan this 2022. "Savage" is the quartet's first song to spend 10 weeks on Billboard Japan Hot 100.

Aside from BTS's English songs, an English track by TWICE also made it to the list. Their 2021 project "The Feels" - which is the fastest song by a foreign female artist to be certified platinum for streaming in Japan - secured No. 8.

Rounding up the top 10 are two solo K-pop songs, specifically PSY's "Gangnam Style" and SHAUN's "Way Back Home." These tracks were dropped back in 2012 and 2018 respectively, making them one of the oldest yet iconic releases on the list.
