Davichi Kang Min Kyung Criticized Over Unfair Salary Distribution To Employees

Kang Min Kyung of Davichi is under fire for reportedly paying her employees insufficient salary.

Here's what people are saying.

Davichi Kang Min Kyung Criticized for Unfair Salary Distribution to Employees

On January 5, Davichi Kang Min Kyung's fashion business, Àvie Muah, posted a job opening online. It gained attention not for its opportunity, but for its unfair salary dissemination.

On Instagram, Kang Min Kyung announced that her company was hiring. The singer stated it was for customer care representative and designer openings.

The post also indicated specific requirements. The job offer was looking for college-educated individuals with 3 to 7 years of experience, for its customer support representative position.

However, Min Kyung received backlash, due to the post indicating that an annual salary of 25.0 million KRW ($19,600 USD) will be paid to the employee.

The uproar prompted Min Kyung to publish a second Instagram story. On the second post, she claimed that the initial job advertisement misrepresented the pay for an entry-level position.

See her full statement below:

"When I looked at the job posting, I was shocked on the overwhelming DMs. And I was even more shocked since the inaccurate post was a result of an error made by one of our employees."

"During the employment process, Àvie Muah considers the experience and prior salaries of applicants. We are looking forward to working with good people."

Even if Min Kyung explained her side, the general public continues to be skeptical of her explanation. Others claimed that an entry level of 25 million won was underwhelming, even for beginners.

With the backlash ongoing, netizens also stated the contrast of its unfair salary, given how Min Kyung purchased a 6.5 billion won office building in Seoul.

Online Community Calls Out Àvie Muah's Items for Being 'Overpriced'

In a previous note, Kang Min Kyung also responded to backlash in 2020, regarding overpriced items. According to sources and netizens, Avie Muah sold clothes items for over $200 USD, and a hair scrunchie that cost $49 USD. The item pricing also received criticism.

In response to the controversy, the company addressed that the scrunchie was 100 percent silk, leading for its price to rise. They also furthered how the business will take responsibility from now on.

"100% silk was utilized to make the scrunchie, and as it is such high-quality material, the manufacturing procedure is also very delicate."

"We've noticed that many customers are wary of our price points because the products aren't well explained. We will accept accountability and follow up with more specific details."
