'Discriminatory'? NCT 127's Album Cover Draws Mixed Reactions From NCTzens

On January 20, NCTzens expressed their thoughts online regarding NCT 127's cover on their 4th album repackage.

In the cover, the boys are featured posing in a plain studio with their monochromatic outfits. Fans have noticed member Taeyong was the only one wearing white, while the rest of the members sported black clothes.

Aside from Taeyong's apparel, they also called out the group's formation, stating that Taeyong is standing in the front too much.

They implied that SM Entertainment is pushing Taeyong's image, overshadowing the rest of the members.

NCTzens expressed frustration on the cover:

"Have you ever seen an album cover that was this discriminatory towards people?"

"This is realistically speaking the last album of the oldest hyung before he joins the army."

"But even with 9 members, they're still having the same member stand out. It's especially bad with this album cover."

"Honestly this is like the main character and his side characters."

"Aside from Taeyong, I bet all the members are getting a reality slap now. How can an album cover be that way."

While NCT 127's album cover became the talk of the town, some fans placed similar examples from other groups such as DIA, SNSD and Super Junior, implying this concept is common for album covers.

SM Entertainment Apologizes For NCT 127 Album Mishaps

In other news, SM posted an apology for mishaps during NCT 127's promotions.

On September 16, 2022, NCT 127 released their much-anticipated comeback "2 Baddies."

According to sources, fans called out SM Entertainment for missing out a photocard of member Doyoung. SM immediately addressed the matter through an apology online.

They acknowledged the issue, and expressed regrets over the mistake, asking fans for their understanding. The agency also apologized to Doyoung and the members. Furthermore, SM assured fans that they looked for the quickest way possible to add Doyoung's picture.

Even though it was challenging to retrieve the albums, they proposed that a different booklet will be re-printed with Doyoung's picture. SM added that fans who have purchased the "2 Baddies" digipack version will receive the booklet.

SM Entertainment released the following statement:

"Hello, this is SM Entertainment.

We have confirmed that the image of DOYOUNG in the Digipack version of NCT127's 4th album '2 Baddies' is missing.

We sincerely apologize to the fans, DOYOUNG, and the rest of the NCT 127 members for failing to check all parts meticulously in the album's jacket design process.

After checking the omission of the image, we tried to find a way to replace the image in the album released today (16th). However, we found that it was difficult to retrieve the albums that are already in the process of being delivered to vendors and customers.

The booklets will be re-printed and sent out to those who have received the Digipack album with the missing photo as soon as possible, and the details will be announced separately as soon as they are finalized.

Once again, we deeply apologize to the fans for our mistake and the inconvenience."
