In an online community, SEVENTEEN DK drew attention after a Chinese fan confessed that she was hurt after finding out that the idol was allegedly using his phone during a fan call with her.
In a viral Weibo post, a said Chinese CARAT (SEVENTEEN fandom) revealed the reason she decided to leave the fandom was due to member DK. The lengthy post implied that she used to be a fan who sees the member as the "best man she has ever chased," however, during a fan call event, the co-worker of the fan emphasized that DK was using his phone while talking to her.
The context was basically calling out the idol for texting others and using the rare two-minute fan call which was supposed to be only spent with her. After all, the chance of meeting him online can only obtain by either pure luck or spending tons of money.
The fan then blamed herself for looking not pretty enough or fluent in Korean or not being as interesting as other CARATs.
At the end of the post, the said Chinese fan hinted that this made it hard for her to continue liking DK, apparently leaving the fandom.
A four-second clip was also uploaded, highlighting the reflection of the phone and a hand at the specs of the male idol.
CARATs Defend SEVENTEEN DK From Malicious Comments
When this post spread in Korean online communities and SNS, there are netizens who sympathized with the said fan. According to them, it was indeed rude to use a phone and felt bad for her who spent time and effort applying for the fan call only to receive an "uninterested" treatment from her idol.
Malicious commenters and DK haters then appeared, leaving hateful and absurd comments toward the idol.
With this, CARATs immediately defended the idol by explaining and clarifying the situation. Contrary to what the OP claimed that DK was using his phone, it seemed like the idol's hands were free from the phone after fixing his specs with the reflection still there.

Another fan also explained that the Chinese fan was trying to slander DK's name by posting using a bot, which accounts often receives submission (posts) from antis.
A lot of CARATs also pleaded with people not to judge DK just by watching a short clip. Along with this, the fandom certified the idol's real personality and treatment to fans, emphasizing that DK's love for CARATs is actually immeasurable and unrelenting.
