5 Female K-pop Idols Who Proudly Show Their Tattoos: HyunA, MAMAMOO Wheein, More!

Tattoos are a form of self-expression. While they are still frowned upon by some, especially for celebrities, these K-pop idols break the stigma by proudly showing their ink.

HyunA

HyunA is is never ashamed to show off her tattoos. She has plenty of inks, but each one has a special meaning.

HyunA also has an intriguing tattoo on the inside of her elbow. "60s dad" is written on it as a tribute to her father, who was born in 1960. The singer admitted in an interview that her father's encouragement inspired her to put more effort into her songs.

In December 2022, HyunA and Dawn broke up afte six years of dating. The ex-couple had some couple tattoos with the word "life" spelled out in letters on their left and right hands, respectively. HyunA embellished her piece of the tattoo with a tiny dainty heart for a special touch.

TWICE Chaeyoung

ONCEs eagerly wait for every glimpse of Chaeyoung's gorgeous tattoos because they are typically hidden during live performances. Her lips tattoo, positioned on her left wrist, was the first one she ever showed in public. The tattoo is painted in neon magenta and apricot, which are also TWICE's official colors.

Fans praise Chaeyoung for showing her unique preferences and color, despite the fact that tattoos are still viewed negatively in Korea. It speaks a lot about Chaeyoung's self-assurance and resolve that she is comfortable displaying her tattoos during live performances as a member of a group known for its sweet and clean notions.

MAMAMOO Hwasa

MAMAMOO Hwasa has a lot of tattoos, although her long hair often covers the "Maria" ink on her nape. This tattoo commemorates her baptismal name and serves as the name of her EP from 2020.

And did you know that Hwasa and her co-member Wheein, who's also her closest friend, have matching tattoos? They both chose the word "resonance," and it's positioned on the back of their ankles!

MAMAMOO Wheein

Wheein has her own collection of tattoos, just like her friend Hwasa. For instance, the name of her cat, Ggomo, is written in plain ink on her right hand. To make it even more remarkable, it was written in the singer's own handwriting.

This elaborate classic perfume design on Wheein's left forearm is another significant tattoo. The tattoo artist said that the perfume bottle Wheein's mother gave her served as the inspiration for this design. She also had her Latin name, "Sophy," engraved on the bottle as an additional tribute to her mother.

Soojin

Soojin, a former (G)I-DLE member, has a total of eight tattoos. Her most well-known tattoos are a crucifix on her back, a minimalist outline of a heart on her shoulder, and the proverb "self-love is the finest love" on the back of her arm.

The last two look stunning whenever she is viewed from behind, giving this girl group idol a edgier and daring appearance.
