aespa Ends Hiatus, To Release New Album

On March 16, aespa confirmed to release a new album in early May, according to SM Entertainment. This return will be after ten months since the release of the group's 2nd mini-album, "Girls."

This comeback was revealed as a delayed return, since their original schedule was February. Various internal circumstances and dispute over the management rights of SM Entertainment, Kakao and HYBE were considered as the reason for the comeback delay.

Lee Soo Man, SM Entertainment founder, was also speculated to be the reason behind the delay of the girl group's comeback. It was allegedly Lee Soo Man who ordered aespa's A&R team to change the lyrics of the group's comeback song to include references to "tree planting" and "sustainability."

A&R team attempted to include lyrics, such as "just sustainability" and "decrease by just 1%," despite that these themes did not fit in with group's metaverse storyline.
