MBC's Upcoming Idol Show 'Fantasy Boys' Reschedules Premiere Date — Here's Why

MBC's upcoming idol audition show "Fantasy Boys" has postponed its premiere due to several factors.

MBC's 'Fantasy Boys' Postpones March Premiere Airing, Releases Announcement

On March 17, MBC announced that upcoming idol audition show "Fantasy Boys" (formerly known as (Boy Fantasy") has rescheduled its March premiere.

For the postponement's reason, MBC elaborated that they now aimed to stream the show simultaneously on different platforms, namely ABEMA and Naver NOW.

According to an MBC representative, the company had received a huge number of requests to air the show on different platforms, including services that are American and European.

Furthermore, the official stated there were other aspects the show must work on, particularly translation and subtitles. This will also help distribute the content on foreign platforms.

The MBC representative stated:

"We have received a massive amount of requests from global platforms, including ones in America and Europe. To fully distribute our content, the processes in certain aspects such as subtitles and translation are required."

"Fantasy Boys" was originally scheduled to air on March 23. However, with this announcement, it was then postponed to March 30, at 10 P.M. KST. MBC's "Fantasy Boys" is the counterpart male version of "My Teen Girl," the show that formed fourth-generation girl group CLASS:y.

On February 20, MBC has revealed the contestant lineup, which comprised a total of 54 participants from different parts of the world.

The audition show will also be directed by Producing Director (PD) Han Dong Chul, who managed with previous popular survival shows such as "Produce 101," "Show Me The Money," and "Unpretty Rapstar." It will also feature TVXQ Changmin, who was chosen as the show's host.

On February 23, MBC confirmed its mentor lineup for the show. Coming from production company Funky Studio through Newsen, it was revealed that 2PM Wooyoung, WINNER Kang Seung Yoon, Jung Jinyoung, and (G)I-DLE Soyeon will be gracing their presence as the trainees' mentors.

'Fantasy Boys' Drops Cheerful Signal Song With 'FANTASY' MV

On February 27, "Fantasy Boys' released the MV for their own signal song "FANTASY,' which featured the boys in a school setting. In the music video, the contestants are shown in their school uniforms, singing and dancing to the energetic song.

Viewers praised the MV for each member's exposure, including their screen time and how the MV introduced each trainees' name. Apart from their unison performance, the MV also featured a dance break, where it presented their different grade categories.

Netizens commented:

"The way they included the grades and screen timing one by one on each trainee is quite fair than other survival shows."

"I thought is going to be performance video, but this MV is really a great introduction for the program, even all the trainees got solo screentime with their names as well."
