IU, Park Bo Gum Infuriate Tourists for Disrupting Festival — What Happened?

IU and Park Bo Gum's upcoming K-Drama, "You Have Done Well," has sparked anger among tourists who were unable to fully enjoy the Gochang Barley Field Festival due to a filming clash with the event.

Unexpected Filming Conflict: IU & Park Bo Gum's K-Drama Angers Tourists

A tourist took to an online community on April 26 with a post titled, "Drama Filming Nuisance At Gochang Barley Festival."

The author shared their experience of attending the festival to take photos of the canola flowers, only to find their plans thwarted by a drama filming session.

They wrote:

"On the 19th, I visited the Gochang Barley Festival, but there was filming going on in the canola flower field. It was too far away to identify the actors."

The tourist added that when they attempted to enter the canola flower field to take photos, a staff member stopped them.

"While I was wandering around the canola flower field and trying to take some pictures, a staff member stopped me, explaining that they were shooting a drama at the location. When I tried taking a picture from another angle, they yelled at me not to take pictures."

The frustrated tourist expressed their disappointment and confusion over being unable to enjoy the tourist attraction fully.

IU & Park Bo Gum's K-Drama Production Team Responds

It was later confirmed that the K-Drama being filmed was "You Have Done Well," starring IU and Park Bo Gum. It was reported that the area where the festival and filming overlapped is privately owned property, and the Gochang-gun Office, which organized the festival, was unaware of the filming plans.

In contrast, the production team for "You Have Done Well" had signed a contract with the site's owner and proceeded with the filming as scheduled. The property owner acknowledged the contract and mentioned that both the production company and tourists were asked for their understanding.

The production team for "You Have Done Well," nevertheless, issued an apology for the inconvenience caused.

"We wholeheartedly apologize to anyone who faced inconvenience due to our filming. While we strived to reduce any disturbance by prioritizing safety and avoiding potential spoilers, we are sorry for not being more attentive to the visitors who took time out of their busy schedules to come to the area."

They also promised to be more careful when filming in the future.

Despite the controversy, anticipation remains high for "You Have Done Well," set to be released around 2025, starring two of Korea's most beloved actors, IU and Park Bo Gum.
