(G)I-DLE Miyeon Raises Brows for Often Doing Dance Challenges With Male Idols

(G)I-DLE Miyeon apparently gets cursed at by female fans for often doing dance challenges with male idols, and also gets accused of being "boy crazy."

What is going on?

(G)I-DLE Miyeon Accused of Being 'Crazy About Boys' for Doing Dance Challenges With Male Idols

In a popular online community for young girls and women, (G)I-DLE Miyeon became the target of hateful comments for often dancing with male K-pop idols.

In particular, the cursing started when the OP wrote an article, calling Miyeon a "남미새," which literally translates to "crazy bast*ard about men." It is slang used for women who are "crazy about boys."

The reason? Because Miyeon often films dance challenges with male idols.

In context, dance challenges are a trending promotional strategy in K-pop. Through these, singers are given the opportunity to introduce the key choreo of the song.

In the past, Miyeon helped numerous male stars in filming dance challenges, such as NCT, WINNER, EXO Kai, TXT, MONSTA X Joohoney, BTOB Minhyuk, and more.

Following the post, some began to call Miyeon "crazy about men" for "selectively" engaging only with male idols when doing dance challenges.

Neverlands Defend (G)I-DLE Miyeon from Absurd Hate

When the issue spread online, Neverland (group's fanbase) immediately defended the singer, arguing that the claims about her are ridiculous.

In fans' defense, Miyeon is currently Mnet's "M Countdown" MC, so it seems that many singers have invited her to participate in their dance challenges, and vice versa.

The fandom pointed out that the male idols themselves chose the other artist that they want to be with when doing the dance video, so it's not shocking that a lot will send their invitation to Miyeon.

After all, the female idol has top-tier beauty, impressive singing and dance skills, and good personality that everyone wants to get close to her!

Miyeon's fans continued to counterattack the women's community, highlighting that they are just jealous, and that they are actually the ones who are "obsessed" with their favorite male idols, seeing how they react badly after seeing them dance with Miyeon.

As more fans try to side with and defend Miyeon, the OP has since then deleted the post. However, the discussion about it continued and reached the Korean media.

Meanwhile, (G)I-DLE released their sixth mini-album "I Feel" on May 15 and has been dominating the music charts with their new title track, "Queencard."
