As she enters her 15th year as an idol, 2NE1 Sandara Park confirmed her return to the music scene with her solo debut coming in THIS month!

"Queen of K-pop" 2NE1 member Sandara Park will return to her main job as a singer!

According to an exclusive report released by the Korean media outlet Sports Chosun on June 14, the idol will officially embark on her solo career in the second half of 2023.

Based on the news, Dara's album release date will be in July. industry officials also reported that the music video (MV) for the title track of her new single has been completed, and it is currently in the final stage of work.

With Dara's new release, it will finally end her long hiatus as a soloist after initially debuting as a singer in the Philippines in 2005. At the time, she left massive hits such as "In Or Out" and "Ang Ganda Ko (I'm Beautiful)" before leaving for Korea to debut as 2NE1 in 2009.

Since then, the only songs filled with solely Sandara Park's voice have been advertising songs, dramas, and movie OSTs, such as the iconic "KISS" song she performed for a beer brand co-starring with Lee Minho in the MV.

Following the news, BLACKJACKs rejoiced as this will mark her much-awaited official solo debut in Korea about 15 years since she debuted as a K-pop idol.

Prospective Concept for Sandara Park's New Single

Since the disbandment of 2NE1 in 2016, Sandara Park temporarily took a break as an idol and singer to focus on her acting and entertainment activities.

Despite this, the "FIRE" singer continuously expressed her desire to meet fans as a soloist in Korea with a debut release.

In one of her interviews in 2022, she hinted at her solo debut preparation, saying:

"I'm recording in my spare time. Now I have to go back to my main job as I gradually increase the ratio. Of course, I love both actress and entertainer Dara, but I'm also a musician."

Meanwhile, attention is also being paid to the fact that it is Sandara Park's first music move since the establishment of her new nest at the Abyss Company.

Abyss Company has shown a strong side, home to Sunmi and GOT7 BamBam as solo singers. It is expected that Abyss Company's know-how will also be concentrated on Sandara Park's single.

In her interview in 2022, Dara originally stated that she was planning to release either a dance track or a sentimental song. But in January 2023, she confirmed that her new song will be refreshing and lively, fitting for the summer season.
