DIVEs Share Mixed Opinions on IVE's Rap Parts: 'It can break the song's mood'

Fans have opened a discussion regarding IVE's rap parts in their songs, and the rap segments generally instilled in K-pop songs.

Should they continue to add rap verses or remove it completely?

IVE's Rap Parts Garner Mixed Opinions From K-pop Community

On June 16, an online forum was made by netizens, who discussed IVE's rap parts.

In their discussion, the original poster expressed that no rap parts were included in their songs "Eleven" and "Love Dive."

However, the group started to add rap on songs in "After Like," and their pre-release track "Kitsch." While the user mentioned that rap parts can put on a nice twist, it can also disrupt the song's flow and lead to a jarring listening experience.

They also stated it'd be better if IVE didn't put any more rap parts in "Kitsch," and future comebacks, claiming that it felt "too forced."

Some preferred K-pop songs in general not to have any rap parts. They also felt that idols replace sing-along verses with rap due to feeling ambiguous in vocalization.

While some didn't enjoy the rap in "Kitsch," they didn't deny the buzz it generated during IVE's live stages. Others debated on which member should take the role of the main rapper.

Read their comments below:

"If you looked at 'Eleven' and 'Love Dive,' they didn't put any rap parts, but they randomly started with 'After LIKE' and even in 'Kitsch.'"

"It's nice that they added some rap parts, but it breaks the flow of the song and it's not nice to the ear. I hope that they get rid of the raps in the next song."

"Kitsch's rap honestly feels too forced."

"I just don't like rap regardless of the idols. It feels like they feel ambiguous putting vocals in their songs, so they add rap instead."

"I honestly didn't enjoy Kitsch's rap either when I listened digitally, but when I saw it on stage, it was actually the part that gained the most buzz."

"Ahn Yujin wearing the varsity was God's work and the rap added the aura to the song, making it more intense, so it was nice."

"Rei's rap is fine, but I really can't stand Gaeul's rap, someone needs to take it away from her, make another member do it."

IVE debuted on December 1, 2021, under Starship Entertainment with their first single album "Eleven," and its title track of the same name. They made their first-ever comeback with "LOVE DIVE," followed by "After LIKE," and "I AM."

The group is a six membered group, comprised of Jang Wonyoung, Ahn Yujin, Gaeul, Rei, Liz and Leeseo.
