After Wheein and Hwasa departed from RBW, there is an increasing concern on MAMAMOO's future. Regarding this, Solar and Moonbyul revealed the plan as a quartet moving forward.

MAMAMOO+, a sub-unit comprised of Solar and Moonbyul, finally released their first mini-album, "TWO RABBITS," on August 3!

In light of this, the duo participated an interview, and answered questions regarding their album, sub-unit, and opened up about future group activities. 

In the interview, the duo was asked:

"Do you have any plans to promote as a whole group?"

This question was raised in line with Hwasa leaving RBW Entertainment in June 2023, following Wheein who left the company in the same month in 2021.

Solar then gave an honest reply.

"It's hard to say that we have a plan right now. Half of the group left for another company. So it is a structure that makes it impossible to carry out activity a whole as easily as before."

However, she expressed MAMAMOO's desire to continue as a quartet.

"Realistically, it's hard. Gathering itself requires a lot of talk. It's going to be difficult, but I think the day will come when the four of us can take time to do (full activities) together."

The duo also revealed their love and dedication for MAMAMOO, answering why they named their sub-unit after the group.

Solar emphasized:

"The direction we wanted was a lively image of early MAMAMOO. Adding a + to MAMAMOO makes me feel that positive energy is maximized. I like the name because it's simple and impactful."

However, they shared its difference to the group's concept.

"MAMAMOO+ has a bright energy. The Group started with a bright concept at first, but as we mature, the group also has stronger feelings.

MAMAMOO+ is a group that wants to highlight MAMAMOO's first impression. We want to maximize that appearance and melt it into the music. I hope many people get positive energy after listening to our songs."

As the talk went on, there are also reporters who asked the "dangdang" singers how they formed the unit and selected members.

Moonbyul replied:

"Actually, I first met Solar for work, but we got along really well. At first, it was 'Let's have a fan meeting together,' but Solar made me have a big dream. Initially, our direction of work was different, so we bumped into each other a lot. We had a bit of a hard time communicating, but we made it easily (album) without any emotional fights while talking."

Solar added:

"Moonbyul once said, 'It would be fun if the two of us performed.' The company also responded positively, so we prepared for unit activities in earnest. Each of us wanted to do so clearly that there were many things that we bumped into at first.

I am happy that the rough parts have been cut while caring for each other and the work has been made well."
