Kim Jaejoong Delivers Savage Reply to SS501 Being TVXQ's Rival

Kim Jaejoong has showcased his savageness in a variety show!

On August 10, the new episode of "Jaejoong and Friends" was finally released, which featured Moonbyul of MAMAMOO as the special guest. The two then conversed through casual talk, pinning on what the dish would be, as well as debut-related topics.

During the conversation, Moonbyul brought up how she suddenly recalled TVXQ's Japanese songs.

Jaejoong then acknowledged Moonbyul's heartwarming comment and remarked that there weren't much male groups during his time.

However, this comment led Moonbyul to blurt out that SS501 was TVXQ's supposed rival, earning Jaejoong's hilariously executed sour expression!

Moonbyul: "Speaking of Japan, I'm suddenly reminded of your old Japanese songs. 'You don't need words...'"

Jaejoong: "Why are you still memorizing that?"

Moonbyul: "I don't know much Japanese. I didn't know what it meant, I just memorized it."

Jaejoong: "You really like us, huh?"

Moonbyul: "I loved you guys so much."

Jaejoong: "To be honest, there weren't many male groups during that time."

Moonbyul: "The rival (of TVXQ) was SS501."

Jaejoong: "(sighs)"

Jaejoong's hilarious expression immediately drew laughter in the room.

This was followed by Moonbyul, who shared a personal experience during her fangirl phase, and involved her friend, who was fan of SS501.

After hearing Moonbyul's fangirl story, Jaejoong dropped a bombshell response to the claim of SS501 being TVXQ's rival!

Moonbyul: "In middle school, my friend was an SS501 fan, and I'm a TVXQ fan. So I fought her, I said, 'They're not even rivals. TVXQ debuted first, so TVXQ is first!'" and she was like, 'No, TVXQ is a copycat,' so we had a huge fight."

Jaejoong: "SS501 was great. It was a great group but, they weren't (even) our rivals!"

Jaejoong then proceeded to delve in how close he was to all SS501 members and gave a special mention to Youngsaeng, whom he had a pre-debut history with during his trainee days at SM Entertainment.

This was followed by another savage remark from the JYJ member!

Jaejoong: "I was close to all of them (SS501). Youngsaeng used to be a trainee with me at SM Entertainment. How is the guy who failed there our rival?"

Moonbyul: "That's right! (laughs)."

Jaejoong: "Youngsaeng!"

TVXQ debuted on December 26, 2003, while SS501 on June 8, 2005. In their generation, both groups were at their peak, and are considered as legendary K-pop icons until this day.
