Jeon Somi Reacts to Her AI Covers Singing BTS Jungkook's 'SEVEN' & NewJeans' 'Super Shy'

On August 14, Jeon Somi took to the short-form video-sharing platform, TikTok, to react to her AI-generated covers singing some of the current popular K-pop songs.

As a context, AI covers are clips that utilized advanced technology and tools to generate videos of random artists singing popular songs. This aims to replicate the voice of the singer and assumed them as the one singing another artist's song.

Recently, this technology became a hot item among SNS users due to its accuracy. Fans then started uploading AI cover clips on social media platforms, and Somi is no exception.

However, as the MZ-gen star was recently active on social media to promote her recent album release, "GAME PLAN," the idol apparently came across these videos and decided to film her reactions to them.

One of the videos she reacted to was her AI cover of BTS Jungkook's "SEVEN" where she showed surprised reactions to how accurate the clip sounds. She even granted her fans' wish to hear her sing the song by doing an actual cover of it, and the resemblance was indeed scary!

As of writing, the video is going viral on TikTok with about 15 million views, just a day after uploading it. This is not all as Somi also gave her reaction to her NewJeans' "Super Shy" AI-generated cover.

The female idol looked so confused as she listen to it, that even her singing style was copied neatly by the technology.

The video now has over 2.3 million views.

When K-pop fans saw these videos, they also expressed their shocked reactions to them and left comments such as:

• "AI covers are so scary, they are almost identical."
• "Someone please post more of Somi AI covers so she can give us more real ones."
• "A is so scary like how they can be so really accurate to their voices... like it is... really..."
• "Yes Mother Somi, make this a trend for idols to react to their AI covers and compare it to IRL."
• "We need a full cover."

Aside from full covers of the two songs, fans also hope to see Jeon Somi collaborate with HYBE artists to promote her new track, "Fast Forward," and have a duet of their respective songs as well.

Jeon Somi Returns With New EP 'GAME PLAN'

Meanwhile, Jeon Somi, a former I.O.I member-turned-soloist, once again cemented her status in the music scene with her newly released mini-album, "GAME PLAN," on August 7. This is her first comeback in two years since she released her debut studio album, "XOXO," in 2021.

The album is comprised of five songs including the title track, “Fast Forward."

On TikTok, she has been collaborating with various artists including aespa Giselle, LE SSERAFIM Huh Yunjin, and more.
