ITZY Yuna drew mixed reactions after her bare-faced photo circulated, garnering criticism from Korean netizens. MIDZYs were then quick to defend the idol from unpleasant comments.
ITZY Yuna's Bare-Faced Photo Goes Viral, K-Netz Lambaste the Idol
ITZY attended the "Music Core" 2023 Ulsan Summer Festival, which aired on August 12.
Following the episode, K-pop fan sites shared some of the clips and photos during the rehearsals and actual performances of the artists who were part of the lineup.
Among the popular YouTube channels that shared videos from the event was @TheGsd. The channel is quite popular for K-pop fans as it contains numerous behind-the-scene videos and shorts of various artists.
Just then, a fan took the opportunity to take a screenshot of Yuna from one of their YouTube shorts, and uploaded it on a popular online forum for malicious intent.

In the photo, Yuna has no makeup; thus, she looks paler and gloomy than usual. Her dark eye circles are also apparent in her small face.
Just then, the original poster wrote:
"You must have been sick somewhere. ITZY Yuna, how have you been…"
The OP also added:
"It seems that they're very busy with their schedules."
When it was posted, Korean netizens flocked to the post to criticize the idol's visuals. They also began body-shaming the singer.

- "Dark circles are characterized by protruding eyes."
- "When I see things like this, I get worried...I hope you take care of your health while promoting."
- "I've never thought that Yuna was pretty. It's not that you're pretty because you have big eyes, but the harmony is important."
- "You look like a snout with your eyes. Don't hit a ridiculous shield with your face. I admit your body shape though."
- "Yuna only has a pretty body, but she looks ugly. There are many pretty girls, but it's fascinating that Yuna is pretty."
MIDZYs Defend ITZY Yuna From Harsh Comments
Amid the criticism, ITZY's loyal supporters MIDZYs jumped to the idol's defense.
Contrary to the OP's unwarranted claim that Yuna is "sick," in the actual video, the "Wannabe" singer is performing energetically and she looks healthy.
Regarding her dark eye circles, fans explained that they were most likely due to their busy schedules and lack of sleep, and it only looked severe in the photo and video because the YouTube channel's filter has a high saturation. This could've caused the subject's features look more obvious that what it actually looks like.
MIDZYs then berated the haters for mocking Yuna's appearance and body while they hide in their "egg accounts."
- "Pann girls Antis, even if you reveal your ugly faces because you are jealous and passionate about Yuna, Yuna's face is pretty and her physique doesn't change. Okay?"
- "You guys look uglier than Yuna even with a bare face and makeup."
- "I think it's a screenshot when she's tired."
- "Are we all out of our minds? How can we be the judge of Yuna's appearance? I don't understand... You'd be surprised to see Yuna in person."
- "I watched that video, but I think her dark circles look dark because they raised the saturation too high. If you look at the other members' lip colors, you can tell how much they raised the chroma."
