Hyeri Reveals Bad Experience With Foreign Airline: 'They told me to take the next flight...'

Girl's Day-turned-actress Lee Hyeri turned to Instagram to call out an international airline for an unfair act regarding her flight.

On August 31, the idol-actress revealed the story of her being downgraded to an economy class.

"Although I booked my first-class ticket about a month ago, I've been downgraded to an economy ticket without any refund."

She continued that she was forced to fly economy when she paid for the first class.

"The only option that they offered me was to either fly economy at the price of a first-class ticket or to walk away and wait for the next flight."

As the idol went on, Hyeri was still confused about the incident and clarified that it was not a domestic airline.

"I booked two seats so how could both be downgraded? I have a lot of things to say, but I couldn't express it properly, so it was a moment when I thought I should have studied English harder."

She then warned her Instagram followers and fans, stating:

"Beware, everyone, this is the most absurd experience I've been going through recently."

Delta Airlines Releases Official Statement Regarding Girl's Day Hyeri's Complaint

Based on the plane ticket photo released by Hyeri, it was revealed that she was referring to Delta Airlines. In the past, the airline has been the center of negative reports and reviews for overbooking and constant racism.

There were various stories about Delta being racist, especially to Koreans, such as firing a Korean stewardess for speaking Korean, refusing to board a Korean family after insulting them and refusing to unload three Korean individuals' luggages and demanding them to retrieve it in Seattle instead.

In a related article, Delta Airlines told Maeil Economic Start Today on the same day:

"We have delivered the incident to related departments and we are investigating the incident."

When asked by a reporter:

"Isn't Hyeri's incident a racism case?"

Delta Airlines avoided an immediate answer and said:

"There is nothing that can be answered at the moment."

They also remained silent on questions about compensation for damages.

As additional information, according to reports, Lee Hyeri had her Delta flight from LA to New York on the afternoon of the 30th.

The price of a one-way economy and first-class seats from LA to New York varies by two to three times larger depending on the flight. The difference per seat alone ranges from about 530,000 won ($402) to 2.24 million won ($1700).

If the two seats were forcibly downgraded to an economy without a difference refund, the damage could range from 1.06 million won ($804) to 4.48 million won ($3400).
