Uaenas Hilariously Turned To SHINee Taemin for 'Help' to Secure IU's Fan Concert Ticket – What's the Reason?

IU officially opened the pre-selling for her 2023 fan concert, but why are Uaenas asking and mentioning SHINee Taemin for help?

Uaenas 'Summon' SHINee Taemin's Luck During IU Fan Concert Ticket Pre-Selling

On September 4, the pre-selling of tickets for the 2023 IU Fan Concert officially opened exclusively for those who are members of IU's fan club, UAENA.

Earlier on August 22, IU's agency, EDAM Entertainment, announced the 2023 IU fan concert I+UN1VER5E. The much-awaited event will be held for two days on September 23 and 24 and will be conducted at the KSPO Dome in Seoul Olympic Park.

At the time, it was also stated that the ticket reservations would be divided into fan club pre-purchase and general reservations. The latter will be held on the 6th.

In the case of pre-purchase for the fan club, only IU fan club, "UAENA" members can purchase one ticket per person with one ID. Regular reservations can be purchased by anyone who wants to go to the concert.

As a result, fans wished for success in ticketing in their own way to occupy a good seat and view.

On September 5 then, fans made IU's name trend in real time on X, formerly Twitter, as fans write her name 3x to wish ticketing success. But along with her, UAENAs also summoned SHINee Taemin and the male idol's name rose as a trending topic in South Korea.

Why are IU fans mentioning Lee Taemin?

The reason made K-pop fans smile after learning that it was a reference to EDAM employee Lee Jidong, IU's alter ego, when she tried to secure a ticket for her "2022 The Golden Hour: Under the Orange Sun" concert.

On August 25, 2022, IU gave her fans a tip on how to not fail to get a ticket and tried the "lucky chant" related to SHINee Taemin.

She said:

"I saw an article saying that if you chant 'Lee Taemin, Lee Taemin, Lee Taemin' (SHINee member), you won't fail to get tickets."

IU, who suddenly shouted his name three times, expressed her willingness to succeed in ticketing even more by adding:

"I think ticketing will work if I shout IU, IU, IU three times, but since 'Lee Taemin, Lee Taemin' is the one who has public confidence, I will shout 'Lee Taemin' 3x and IU 3x next before I start ticketing."

Did 'Lee Taemin 3x' Work? IU Sold Out Tickets Early in Pre-Selling

Following this, fans claimed that the lucky chant worked for them. But since the concert is to commemorate IU's 15th debut anniversary, it wasn't easy for everyone.

In online communities, there are more posts and articles stating that they failed, than those who succeeded in securing tickets.

  • "Wow. It was easy to see articles that failed ticketing."
  • "I failed IU pre-purchase."
  • "I failed to get tickets even though I joined the fan club."
  • "What should I do to get a cancellation ticket for pre-purchase?"
  • "Why is ticketing so difficult?"

On September 5, EDAM Entertainment reported that all pre-sale tickets were also sold out even before the general reservation on the 6th.

Since "I+UN1VER5E" is IU's first offline event in four years since the fan meeting marking the 11th anniversary of her debut in 2019 in the form of a fan concert, UAENAs are determined to secure a ticket to see the idol.
