ATEEZ Wooyoung Claps Back Against Sasaengs on Live Broadcast

Wooyoung opened a live broadcast on YouTube on September 4, when he interacted with ATINYs.

During the livestream, the attention of fans and netizens seemingly went to Wooyoung's unexpected payback to sasaengs.

For additional context, sasaeng is the Korean term for a fan who exhibits obsessive stalking behavior. Boundaries pale with sasaengs, as they are notorious for barging into idols' private lives and are often the subjects of discussion across the K-pop community.

On Wooyoung's livestream, the idol first mentioned that he had read many comments from viewers, and based on what he saw, many have been asking for other members to appear. Wooyoung then pointed out that it's been a long time since he held a live.

Wooyoung: "Why are you keep looking for other members? It's been a long time since I appeared (in a live broadcast)."

Wooyoung: "At first, I really didn't want to say this but, I think it seems really serious these days, so I'm just going to say this once. Please, stop sending me messages in KaKaoTalk. It's really stressful for me. Please don't do that."

Wooyoung: "It's not a good approach. Don't do it. Do you understand? I'm not interested."

Internet users were amazed on how Wooyoung handled the situation and commended him for being courageous in calling out stalkers. They also voiced out their dismay to these sasaengs who won't stop at nothing when it comes to meddling with idols.

They commented:

  •  "Wow, for real, I admire him for being so brave in calling out those sasaengs."
  •  "Exactly omg, how would they think if some strange randomly got their phone number without permission and keeps harassing them?"
  •  "Sasaengs also need to get a life since they don't have anything else to do but invade the privacy of others."
  •  "The fact he had to say this in live broadcast is just sad. They should know better."
  •  "Please leave idols alone. Say it louder for the people in the back, Wooyoung."
