In an interview with Teen Vogue that occurred on September 18, Jihyo sat down with the renowned magazine for a conversation.

Jihyo made her highly anticipated solo debut on August 18, with her first mini album "ZONE" and title track "Killin' Me Good." On September 15, Jihyo dropped the English version of the track, which featured a lyric video content.

To promote her successful debut, Jihyo made numerous comeback stages and appeared on various shows. With her promotions coming to a wrap, Jihyo discussed with Teen Vogue her new image as a soloist in the K-pop industry.

However, what caught the fandom's attention was the singer's reaction to her nickname "Mother," which in internet slang, is an "iconic woman who's constantly serving," according to Teen Vogue. The term also came from the Black and Latinx LGBTQIA + ballroom community.

When the interviewer asked Jihyo if she was aware that many fans have been referring to her with this term, Jihyo was first confused and thought the word was utilized traditionally.

"Umma?," Jihyo uttered. "Honestly, I didn't know that. I'm only finding out the meaning of it now."

The term was explained to Jihyo, leading to the singer's wholesome affirmation. According to Jihyo, she has glimpsed the word lying around the comments sections of her Instagram posts and fancams, especially in TWICE's stages of "FANCY," "MORE & MORE," and "Alcohol-Free."

Jihyo was flattered by the nickname. She replied:

"As you mentioned (the word) and explained it to me, I think it's very funny. It's funny that fans call me that and I also think about me as that kind of figure."

Meanwhile, on social media, ONCEs (TWICE's fandom) spawned hilarious reactions to Jihyo's moment, as they're also indeed guilty of referring to her as the one and only "Mother."
