Lia has been on hiatus for a while now. However, a new update took the spotlight, causing fans to be relieved with her current status.

ITZY Lia: Personal Background, Debut With Group, Hiatus Announcement, More

Choi Jisu, popularly known as Lia, is the main vocalist and sub-rapper of JYP Entertainment's K-pop girl group ITZY.

On January 20, 2019, JYPE released a prologue film for the group and introduced Lia in the video. ITZY then debuted on February 12, 2019, with their single album "IT'z Different" and title track "DALLA DALLA."

The group then followed up numerous K-pop bops over the years such as "ICY," "WANNABE," "Not Shy," "Mafia in the morning," "LOCO," "Sneakers," "Cheshire," and "CAKE."

However, on September 18, 2023, JYPE officially announced that Lia would be suspending her activities temporarily with the group due to health concerns.

"Hello. This is JYP Entertainment.

We would like to announce the health status of ITZY member Lia, as well as her plans for the future.

Lia has experienced extreme tension and anxiety regarding her scheduled activities, and with this, she went through an examination. In the end, it was concluded that Lia would need treatment and adequate rest to recover.

Since our priority is our artist's health, we agreed that Lia would not be able to participate in any official schedules starting today to focus on her treatment.

Regarding Lia's resumption of her activities, it will also be decided after discussing it with the rest of the members. We send our deepest apologies to fans for causing concerns. We will announce Lia's return once it has been decided.

Thank you."

Lia then followed up with a handwritten letter on ITZY's official Instagram account and addressed her situation.

"Since MIDZY worries about me so much even when I'm a little sick, I was also worried that you might get more anxious when you learned the news. But since I know MIDZY trusts me, I was finally able to inform everyone with courage."

"I hope that MIDZYs will be happy, and when I return in good health, I will repay you for your unconditional patience. I'm always thankful and I love you."

After the announcement of her hiatus, ITZY's fandom MIDZYs were kept waiting for any updates from the singer since things went silent for weeks on end. However, the fandom was surprised to see a surprising update from one of Lia's friends.

On October 17, two photo collages went viral across social media, which showed Lia having fun with her friends. The "CAKE" singer seems to be enjoying a day out with her smile, carefree demeanor, and brand new wolf cut.
