Jessi Shares Plans That Her Previous Agencies Wouldn't Allow — How Will She Differ in Jay Park's Label?

On Jay Park's talk show, Jessi shared her plans which her previous companies didn't allow.

Here's what the soloist said.

Jessi Dishes on Her Artistry, Plans, & Many More in Interview with Jay Park

On October 21, MORE VISION founder and CEO Jay Park sat down in an interview with newly signed artist Jessi on the program "MORE TALK."

In the episode, the "ZOOM" singer delved into the conversation about her previous experiences in the K-pop industry, as well as her rebranding and consistency.

With her longtime experience in the industry, Jessi revealed her true feelings regarding the ups and downs in her solo career.

Jay Park: "Jessi, you have a long history in your singing career, right? How many years?"

Jessi: "18 years or more."

Jay Park: "Oh 18, you're my senior anyways. You've recently gained a lot of attention. I mean, not many people know that you have a long singing career."

Jessi: "You're right. Obviously, not many people know because they would've seen me when I ride high. I left for America, came back again, and I changed my name so many times. I was Jessica H.O at first, I got in Uptown and worked as Lucky J, then returned as Jessi."

Jessi: "So I changed my identity I guess, in a sense."

Jay Park: "Rebranding repeatedly like that, I mean, taking on new challenges every time must not be easy. How did you feel about this? What were the reasons behind your continuous efforts to take on new challenges?"

Jessi: "Firstly, I think mindset is important. I occasionally break down since I'm a human too. I go home, cry, but I'd collect myself again. I wouldn't have come this far if things went smoothly at the time when I was 14 when I debuted."

Jessi: "I think it's a blessing in disguise that I have gone through everything so well. I'm wiser, experienced, and I know my brand well, so it's hard. I'm not going to lie, I'm a perfectionist. Because of this, I tend to be strict on myself."

The soloist then shared her desire to make more relatable music, which her previous companies wouldn't allow. Jessi also added the pressure she experienced when her 2022 hit "ZOOM" became a mainstream success.

Jessi: "'ZOOM' went so well, but it's like, a lot of pressure."

Jay Park: "The previous song was a mega-hit. So that gives you a lot of pressure too."

Jessi: "Yes, a lot. In terms of music and as a person too. I wanted to kind of make music that's more relatable.

Jessi: "Now that I'm older, I'm a woman, a grown-up, so all the things that I've been through, I know what exactly my voice is, so I want to make music that I can actually relate with the people who are currently going through breakups or struggling mentally or whatever."

Jay Park: "You want to share emotional connection with people on a deeper level, right?"

Jessi: "I do, but every time I want to release this kind of music, my previous companies wouldn't let me do so. Because people want to make pop music and money, so in that situation, I'm like feeling lost again."

Afterwards, Jessi wrapped the topic up by showing her undying resolve to learn more about the industry and take on new challenges.

Jessi: "I love taking risks, new challenges, and anything that's just different. The only thing that I'm scared of is change. That's the one thing I'm scared of, not gonna lie. Before I die, I don't want to be just stuck in one label.

Jessi: "I want to try out different companies, how these kinds of people work, and I want to learn, that's why I'm with MORE VISION."

Jessi also stated:

"My previous companies were older than me and made decisions on what I should or shouldn't do. But here (in MORE VISION), we're freer, and adapting to this is difficult in another sense."
