EXO's 'First Snow' Re-Enters Various South Korean Music Charts

Even without a new comeback song, EXO is dominating the local music charts in November with a 10-year-old song!

In particular, Christmas is just around the corner. Fancy lights and decorations are seen all over the streets already, giving the impression that the much-awaited holiday is ahead.

Aside from ornaments, the Christmas vibe is also reflected on the music charts. In fact, carols released by K-pop idols will be showing their impact in Korea again this 2023.

This year, it's going to be a white Christmas for Korea after having their first snow on November 17. As a result, Koreans listened to EXO's "First Snow," released in 2013, to commemorate the approaching Christmas.

The song peaked at No. 30 on MelOn and as of the 20th (midnight chart), the song ranked No. 40 on its Top 100 chart, No. 50 on Bugs, No. 91 on Genie and No. 86 on Flo.

The song also made history after becoming the most-liked EXO track on MelOn, even surpassing its hit "Ko Ko Bop."

The reason this song remains in Koreans and music fans' hearts is due to the warmth it gives listeners amid the cold season. From D.O.'s sweet and serenading voice to Baekhyun's loving vocals, EXO gives excitement comparable to that of cozy Christmas.

To maximize their experience, some fans also revisit the whole winter special EP, "Miracles in December," which contains six songs including "First Snow."

Aside from local charts, EXO-Ls/Eris (EXO fandom) also made the "First Snow" trend on various social media platforms including X.

Through SNS, fans around the world recalled its impact, especially among Kerries (Korean EXO-Ls). They brought the time when fans sang it as if it was their "national anthem."

International fans also said hearing "First Snow" made them want to go to Korea and experience Christmas there.

On the other hand, not only fans are fond of the song but even K-pop idols!

As of Nov. 17, numerous K-pop idols such as Hwang Minhyun, NCT Dream Renjun, LOONA Yoonjin, ATEEZ Jongho, VICTON Seungsik, Weeekly Monday, TREASURE Jeongwoo, OMEGA X Junghoon, Kep1er Chaehyun, VIVIZ SinB, RIIZE Wonbin & Eunseok, as well as ZEROBASEONE Jiwoong, Gunwook & Hanbin, were singing it either on their live broadcast, fan meeting, fan call and events or have been listening to it.
