SNSD Taeyeon Terrorized for 'To X' Teaser's 'Similarities' to BTS Jungkook's 'Seven' + SONEs Defend Idol

One of Taeyeon's teasers for "To. X" is being called out for similarities to BTS Jungkook's "Seven." This caused SONEs to defend the vocal queen.

Here's what happened.

SONEs Angered After Taeyeon Gets Terrorized for Teaser's Similarities to Jungkook's 'Seven'

On November 21, a netizen opened an online thread titled, "BTS fans are terrorizing Taeyeon."

The author uploaded a screenshot on X (Twitter), showing some ARMYs calling out the originality of one of Taeyeon's "To. X" teasers. According to users, the issue was the similarity of the dining scenes from Jungkook's 'Seven' MV and Taeyeon's highlight clip.

OP also expressed frustration over the tweets, saying that the hate was unnecessary and that Taeyeon already did the concept back in 2016 with "11:11."

"Just because Taeyeon had a scene where she's sitting around a round table with another male, which is a common concept in music videos, they're claiming that she plagiarized Jungkook and are terrorizing her. Of course, you can see in that picture that the comments came from international fans, but a lot of Korean fans are saying the same too. In reality, Taeyeon debuted in 2016 with "11:11" and in her MV, there was a dinner concept too, with a male and female, and a round table."

Netizens commented that the ones who made the negative remarks were Jungkook's solo stans from international areas.

  •  "Are they insane? These are the international roaches from Jungkook's fandom who terrorized her during the night, saying she copied his music video."
  •  "Not BTS fans. Do you think they're crazy enough to do it on her official account?"

However, the majority called out ARMYs for using the "it's only part of a fandom" backup as an excuse, while others expressed fatigue with them calling out other artists for concepts that no one owns.

  •  "There's a victim here. So stop nitpicking on stuff like 'It's only a part of the fandom,' or 'They're cosplaying as BTS fans' and 'Don't feed the trolls here.'"
  •  "Then they'll say that it's another fandom pretending to be ARMYs or some bs."
  •  "Why is she getting hated? She did this concept in 2016 way before Jungkook."
  •  "They take all those overdone concepts and album designs to claim that others are copying BTS. Their inflated ego is out of control."

One fan also pointed out that instances like this one are inevitable since Jungkook is one of the most popular idols in the mainstream scene.

"The worst part of being in a mainstream scene is that so many people, who are fans or casual listeners who have no idea of navigating things are being stupidly loud. Most of these people probably never heard of Taeyeon and who she is. The big percentage of BTS's new fans aren't K-pop fans and they don't care about the K-pop scene. I guess when you're bigger than the genre itself, this kind of problem happens a lot."

Some ARMYs also defended Taeyeon from the negative comments.
