5+ First & Best Records Achieved by SEVENTEEN in 2023: From Album Sales to Music Charts!

Ahead of its 10th debut anniversary next year, SEVENTEEN achieved a career-high by breaking its personal best records and achieving first K-pop achievements with their releases. With this, the Korean media declare 2023 as "SEVENTEEN's year"!

In particular, since January, SEVENTEEN, comprised of S.Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, The8, Mingyu, DK, Seungkwan, Vernon and Dino has been dominating the music scene with various releases including "Betting" and "Always Yours" in Japan as well as its Korean albums, "FML" and "SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN."

Their non-stop desire and hard work to reach the global market and wider scope of fans didn't betray them and gave them tremendous results both at home and abroad.

SEVENTEEN Becomes First '10 Million Artist' in History + Achieves Cumulative 16M Album Sales

In the K-pop scene, SEVENTEEN made history by becoming the first-ever group to become a "10 million artist," after selling 10M album copies in a single year!

Released in April, their 10th mini-album, "FML" became the best-selling K-pop single album with a cumulative sales of 6.28 million. With this album, they also became the only artist around the world to sell more than 3.99 million album copies on the first day of its release.

In October, its 11th mini-album, "SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN" then sold 5,091,887 albums in the first week of its release, becoming the No. 1 K-pop artist and album to sell such number in that certain period.

With the addition of the two new albums, SEVENTEEN has recorded a record of more than 16 million copies sold in Korea since their debut in 2015.

SEVENTEEN Becomes 1st Overseas Artist to Surpass 500k Albums Sales on its 1st Week of 2 Consecutive Works in Japan

Aside from the Korean chart, SEVENTEEN is also reigning in the Oricon Annual Rankings in 2023 with its three works this year, "FML," "Always Yours" ans "SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN."

In addition, with "FML" (552,000 copies) and Japan's best album "Always Yours" (512,000 copies), SEVENTEEN ranked first and second in sales in the first week of 2023 for overseas artists.

They became the first overseas artists to surpass 500,000 copies in sales in the first week of two consecutive works.

SEVENTEEN Surpass 1 Million Audiences With 23 Performances in 2023

This year, SEVENTEEN who haven't met fans due to the pandemic gave their all to greet CARATs around the world through its Korean fan meeting, "SEVENTEEN in CARAT Land (March), Japanese fan meeting, "2023 JAPAN FAN MEETING - LOVE" (May) and its world tour, "SEVENTEEN TOUR - FOLLOW" from July to December.

Having a total of 23 sold-out performances, the group mobilized 800k offline audiences and 270k online live viewers, exceeding 1M spectators.

Compared to their performance in 2022, they have lower numbers of events (34), but their no. of audiences see an increase of 200k, exceeding their personal best record.

SEVENTEEN Becomes 1st K-pop Artist to Take the Podium at 13th UNESCO Youth Forum

Aside from music releases, SEVENTEEN has been creating history with its impact and influence on society.

In November, they attended the 13th UNESCO Youth Forum held at its headquarters in Paris France, making them the first K-pop artist to take the podium and deliver a special session regarding the expansion of education campaign #GoingTogether, for an hour.

SEVENTEEN Bags First-Ever Daesang at MAMA Awards

This year, SEVENTEEN also proved its power by winning five awards at the 2023 MAMA Awards including the "Album of the Year" (Daesang) for its album, "FML."

This is the first-ever daesang received by the group at the prestigious awards ceremony in nine years.

As a result, SEVENTEEN, which will mark its 10th anniversary next year, has fans looking forward to its greater global performance in the future.
