Stray Kids Named Most Popular K-Pop Boy Group Among Teens in Japan

On January 2, a post titled "The Most Popular K-pop Boy Groups of 2023 among Japanese Teens in Their 10s." The author revealed the results of a survey conducted in Japan to discover which boy groups received the most love in Japan in the previous year.

Among all the possible groups teens could pick, the group that reigned supreme is Stray Kids!

Stray Kids debuted in 2018 and made their Japanese debut that same year with a compilation album titled "SKZ2020" through Epic Records Japan. Japan has a special place in all STAYs hearts— in fact, Stray Kids' first overseas performance was in KCON Japan in 2018!

The group has been well-loved in Japan for years. The group has sold over 10 million albums in the country since October 2022, and the number is expected to keep rising.

Korean Internet Users React to Stray Kids Being the Most Popular Boy Group Among Japanese Teens

After the post was uploaded, many took to social media to express their surprise over Stray Kids ranking first.

In the past, groups like BTS and SEVENTEEN ranked on top, and they have maintained their popularity for years.

However, some noted that while BTS and SEVENTEEN may be a big hit among Japanese K-pop listeners, Stray Kids is popular with Gen Z and Gen Alpha.

Besides Stray Kids, many were surprised that groups like THE BOYZ and CRAVITY made the rankings despite being from small groups.
