Ex-GLAM Dahee Announces Retirement, Shows No Desire of Going Back

Kim Siwon, an idol-turned-Afreeca TV BJ, posted a three-page letter, carefully revealing her retirement to her supporters.

"It's funny that it's the last broadcast, and I think it's ridiculous to try to decide the end, but I ended it like this. I think I'm a little tired because so many things happened at once, that the reasons overlapped."

Regarding the reason, the celebrity said:

"Some of you might be wondering about those things, but I didn't want to write why I want to stop broadcasting. I won't explain it forever. I just want to remember good things and stop doing that.

Everyone, I think this will be the last letter and the last notice. Reading this, some of you might be angry, sad and relieved, but I just want to say thank you to everyone and leave now. Also, I will NEVER come back."

In the letter, she continued to look back on her career as a BJ for six years. Before concluding her statement, she wished the fans good health and happiness.

As a BJ, she would often cover K-pop songs, showcasing talent in singing and dancing, which led her to become an idol.

In the end, it is not clear why Kim Siwon suddenly announced her retirement despite her fame. In fact, she was even one of the highest-paid streamers on the Afreeca TV platform.

In 2023, she earned 1.82M USD (2.4B KRW) in sales alone, excluding the commission she get from being a streamer.

Is Actor Lee Byung Hun Reason Behind Her Retirement? Kim Dahee's Past Re-Examined

Prior to becoming a BJ in 2018, Siwon was best known as Kim Dahee, a former member of the girl group GLAM. The team was launched by Big Hit x Source Music in 2012 with four members.

Upon their debut, the group earned decent success but controversy after controversy led their promising career to disbandment.

After Trinity left the group just five months after their debut, Dahee was caught in a lawsuit in 2014 after threatening veteran actor Lee Byung Hun for 3.8M USD (5B KRW) in exchange for not releasing a videotape of the actor's indecent acts while drinking with her and another model Lee Ji Yeon.

On January 15, 2015, she was sentenced to prison and on the same day, GLAM parted ways.

Afterward, she was commuted to one year in prison and two years of probation at the appeals court and was released after six months of detention.

Attention is focused if the actor's case which led her to receive a huge blow in her career is still one of the reasons for her sudden retirement.
