In the current K-pop era, there is a debate about whether visuals weigh more to attain stardom than skills and talents. However, liking the 17-year veteran singer SNSD Taeyeon, fans don't have to choose as she already has both!
Aside from her striking beauty, Taeyeon is highly known for being one of the top-tier vocalists in the music scene. She possesses a clear voice with powerful high notes, stable breathing, emotions and a perfect balance that is truly rare to see among idols.
Not only K-pop fans were amazed by her unmatched vocals but even professionals and experts working behind the industry.
In an article by Sports Korea, the review of five experts on Taeyeon's vocals was released.
1. Vocal Professor Oh Han Seung
Oh Han Seung, a vocal professor at DongA Institute of Media and Arts, praised Taeyeon for her presence as a singer even without the fancy arrangement or strong beats.
"Taeyeon's sound doesn't tire my ears, good enough to listen to her song for two hours non-stop. Taeyeon is the sound of a trendy, sometimes elegant, sentimental and long-listening frequency. Therefore, 'Natural Compression' without the frequency that tires the ears in the sound is an ideal sound."
2. K-pop Vocals Professor Seo Geun Young
Meanwhile, Seo Geun Young, a K-pop vocals professor at Kyung Hee University's Postmodern Music Department claimed that Taeyeon is a "representative singer," explaining:
"The thyrohyoid muscles, which are used for chest voice, and the cricothyroid muscles used when doing a head voice act in opposition, so they lean to either side.
You need to have a good balance in order to achieve low and high notes, but vocalists who are good at high notes and clear sounds are so good at such things. Taeyeon is a representative singer."
3. Vocal Training Instructor Jang Hyo Jin
Vocal coach Jang Hyo Jin is popular in the K-pop scene for working with numerous top artists in and outside the country.
Regarding Taeyeon's vocals, he said:
"Taeyeon sang in a more trendy pop vocal style than before in the 'To. X' album, especially in a vocal style like Ariana Grande five or six years ago.
The singers who used to sing with this kind of vocalization do not have the vocal power unique to pop vocalists, but Taeyeon originally had powerful vocals, so it stands out that the powerful sound and accurate diction can be heard even in the vocalization that seems to flow."
4. Arranger & Keyboardist Song Sung Kyung

After working with Taeyeon, Song said:
