In an online community, former IZ*ONE Kim Minju drew attention from K-netz after her speculated weight gain. Why is she getting hateful comments because of it?

Earlier, an internet user took to the Korean site Nate Pann to write an article about Kim Minju's recent status after IZ*ONE parted ways.

In the post, titled, "Kim Minju's current status, it looks like she gained a lot of weight," the author attached various photos of the idol-turned-actress during her recent fan sign and added the comment:

"I've never seen her this chubby before."

Kim Minju Garners Hateful Comments for Weight Gain Claims

Upon the posting, it immediately became a hot topic in the community, amassing over 300k views with 200 recommendations as of writing.

In the comment section, the majority of the web users didn't talk about the apparent weight gain of the star but they took the chance to throw hateful comments to her, relating to her visuals and skills.

Some of the comments were:

• "She didn't even take care of herself while playing."
• "The one-top visuals that was instilled in us. To be honest, I never find her pretty, only the old girls praise her. In reality, she's not good at either singing or dancing and she's also not good at acting so she became a complete failure."

Fans Defend Kim Minju, Praise Idol Actress's Beauty

Amid negative comments about Minju, her fans immediately jumped to her defense.

In the comments, her supporters denied that Kim gained weight, pointing out that she has a wide pelvis that made her look voluptuous, not fat.

At the time, she was also wearing a bulky Thom Browne suit, which made her look bigger than her normal size.
