In an online community, NewJeans Minji's visuals became a hot topic once again after her supposed middle school pre-debut photo circulated among netizens and fans. Did she alter any parts of her face?

On February 1, the idol drew attention when an OP took to Nate Pann and posted an article with the title, "Is this NewJeans Minji from middle school?"

In the post, a photo of Minji was attached, where she was seen wearing a uniform that supposedly was from her middle school. Looking at it, the "Hype Boy" singer boasts a youthful appearance with her signature long black hair while doing a V-sign.

Even as an ordinary student, she stood out without makeup and flaunted her pre-idol care looks.

NewJeans Minji's Visuals Draw Curiosity If She Had Plastic Surgery

Upon posting, the article garnered over 112,000 views from both K-netizens and Bunnies (NewJeans fandom). However, not everyone was praising her, but most of them accused her of undergoing cosmetic procedures based on the photo.

In particular, what caught the attention of web commenters the most was Minji's nose, which is allegedly slightly different than her pre-debut visuals. Her "darker" lipline was also noticed by netizens.

As a result, netters claimed that Minji undoubtedly underwent cosmetic procedures, as opposed to what her fans claimed that she's a natural beauty.

As Minji is currently listed as one of the top visuals along with IVE Jang Wonyoung, aespa Karina, LE SSERAFIM Kazuha, NMIXX Sullyoon and ITZY Yuna, having plastic surgery was a big deal for K-pop fans.

Some of the comments said:

• "What happened between your nose and lips?"
• "Her nose looks a little bit different."
• "It's not that I don't like her, but she looks a little bit different. Is it because she hasn't received (image) management yet? When I saw the thumbnail, I thought she was a Southeast Asian. It wasn't racism, it just felt like it."
• "She looks like just a countryside girl."
• "Her face was asymmetrical. It looks like she had a plastic surgery."
• "She did her nose."
• "The eyes look the same, but the nose is different."

Bunnies Defend NewJeans Minji, Claims Idol Is Natural Beauty

On the other hand, Minji's supporters, Bunnies were quick to defend her and insisted that she didn't have any plastic surgery, saying that she looks the same as she is now as before her debut.

To support this, fans unveiled more pre-debut photos of Minji, highlighting her unrelenting beauty since she was young.

• "What kind of plastic surgery have you been crawling with? Her graduation photo looks like this. What kind of plastic surgery did she get? Considering that she's getting management now, she looks the same as she does now."
• "It's the same as she is now, she's so pretty."
• "How can you look so pretty, innocent and neat?"

Regarding the claim that it was from her middle school, another fan denied this and clarified that the photo was actually taken in 2022, the same year the group was launched.

• "The school uniform is Hanlim Arts High School."
• "That was after her debut. It was posted as a photo of some kind of school competition, and the date was after their debut."
• "Hey, that photo was posted on the Hanlim Arts High School homepage as a photo from a school competition in September or October 2022. Using that photo and saying it was before plastic surgery is really a b*tch. It just proves what you guys have been insisting on until now. This is a post-debut photo, so why would her nose change?
