Song Seunghyun Pens Letter Announcing Retirement from Entertainment Industry

On February 15, former FTISLAND Song Seunghyun took to his Instagram to bring the news of his retirement, and apologized to fans who waited amid his lengthy hiatus, expecting that he would still come back.

At the same time, the idol asked for his fans' whole support the the future steps he will take, beyond being an idol and actor.

In his letter, Seunghyun started by apologizing to fans, for not being able to communicate that often after he left his agency, saying:

"Hello everyone, this is Seunghyun.

"First, I would like to express my apologies to my fans who have been waiting for my long break, as I am not really good at using social media, and it has been a while since I left the company.

I deeply regret that I wasn't able to communicate smoothly and the long period of silence. Again, I am very sorry and grateful to the fans who have been waiting for me without news."

Just then, Seunghyun confirmed his retirement and said:

"After much thought, I have decided to leave the entertainment industry and probably leave Korea to start a new life.

Four years have passed since I left the team F.T. Island and started working as an actor, but what was more difficult that adapting to the new job and environment were uncertain waiting periods and interpersonal relationships that I didn't see coming. "

Regardless of facing another challenge after his retirement, Seunghyun asked fans to have a happy life and thanked them for supporting him up until now.

"No matter what I do, there will never be an easy job or an easy relationship with people, but for me, I will try to live a new healthy and regular life that I can tackle every day.

I really wanted to say that I am more grateful than anyone else to the fans who have waited, and I hope that you too will always live a healthy and happy life without getting sick physically or mentally.

In 2009, Song Seunghyun joined the K-pop band FTISLAND and worked as its guitarist/vocalist. The group rose to fame with various hits including, "Love Sick," "I Hope," "Severely" and more.

After a decade in 2019, his exclusive contract with his agency expired and at the time, he decided to not renew, left his group and challenged the acting scene instead.

As a musical actor, he appeared in the musicals, "Jack The Ripper, " "D'Artagnan," and "Lost Village."

He also played roles in big-screen films such as "The Youth" and web dramas, "Detective Alice 2" and "Perhaps Love?"

In 2022, he transitioned to becoming a Boy's Love (BL) actor and starred in the Webtoon adaptation of "Oh! My Assistant."

As the Korean BL was on the wave at the time, he received much love from fans, raising anticipation for his next. works. Unfortunately, it would be his last BL and retirement project as well.
