Fact Check: Did IVE Jang Wonyoung Really Say Viral Quote? Fans Set Record Straight

IVE Jang Wonyoung went viral for a remark she allegedly made during an interview. However, K-pop fans raised brows as it was similar to THIS second-gen idol's iconic comment.

On March 4, the fourth-gen idol became a hot topic once again on Tiktok and the X platform after her alleged "It Girl" remark went viral.

While a lot of fans especially DIVEs (IVE fans) lauded the star for her "unbothered queen" personality, second-gen stans raised their brows and called out younger fans to give credit to KARA Gyuri, the one who originally said the comment.

The whole discourse started when a DIVE TikTok user posted the photos of Jang Wonyoung with an English caption, which seemed to be screenshots from an interview.

In the photos, it appeared that the IVE member said the words:

"I don't care about those who comment negative things about me online. They will ask me for an autograph if they meet me in real life anyway."

With her remark, the idol was lauded for her sassy attitude, also praised for maintaining a strong heart despite the amount of malicious comments she's receiving from her haters.

IVE Jang Wonyoung's Viral Quote Is FAKE: Here's OG Idol Who Said These Remarks

However, confused DIVEs and second-gen K-pop fans suddenly flocked to the post, as they questioned the authenticity of the post.

While many DIVEs were tricked and thought that it was Jang Wonyoung's remark, netters who saw the actual interview verified that Jang didn't say anything like the ones in the screenshots.

While Jang said something with a similar context, the words and how she delivered them were completely different based on a word per word.

So who's the real owner of the viral quote?

Kamilia, KARA's fandom then introduced that the OG owner of the quote is actually Park Gyuri, the leader of the group.

In particular, the second-gen female icon spoke these words during her appearance on the popular entertainment show in the past, "Strong Heart" originally hosted by Kang Ho Dong and Lee Seung Gi.

At the time, Gyuri drew attention to her confident and strong mindset when it came to dealing with negative commenters.

She said:

"I don't even have the time to read all the comments that my loving fans write. Those who post negative comments online may actually ask for my autograph if they met me in real life."
