On April 2, 2024, ILLIT won their first music show trophy for "Magnetic" on "THE SHOW." After their encore stage was posted online, the girl group immediately drew flak for their live singing ability.

Many criticized the group, saying they sounded shaky and tone deaf. They are the second HYBE group to draw backlash for their vocals, with LE SSERAFIM earning the ire of the public in March.

Now, fromis_9's previous encore stage is being brought out.

Back in January 2022, fromis_9 took home the trophy for "DM" on "THE SHOW," marking their first win.

However, instead of being congratulated, the girl group immediately garnered flak for their live vocals during their encore stage. At the time, Korean netizens expressed their disappointment in online communities in Korea.

Despite not performing any choreography and simply singing while standing, fromis_9 struggled to maintain pitch and hit high notes, often singing off-key and out of sync. The disappointing performance led many Korean netizens to label it as one of the worst encore performances they had ever witnessed.

Many claimed it was embarrassing to watch, while others stated it was boring to see a group perform badly.

It didn't help that during this time, several other groups were under fire for their live vocals during encore stages, such as TWICE and IVE. However, following fromis_9's stage, Korean netizens started paying more attention to encore stages.
