Despite her mega-star status in South Korea, Girls' Generation member Taeyeon revealed no one recognized her on the subway.

Taeyeon is often revered as one of the biggest stars in South Korea. Dubbed "The Beyonce of Girls' Generation," Taeyeon has made a name for herself as a girl group member and a soloist. She is the highest-selling female artist in South Korea and is an inspiration for countless K-pop juniors in the industry.

No One Recognized Girls' Generation Taeyeon on the Subway?

On April 12, 2024, a post titled "Nobody could regonize Taeyeon in the metro" was uploaded to the popular South Korean online community forum Nate Pann.

The post included numerous stills from Taeyeon's birthday vlog from March. In the video, Taeyeon was seen riding the subway and visiting numerous stations to visit her birthday ads.

As it was a vlog, there were cameras to film Taeyeon on her special day. The idol herself also held a camera so she could film herself. Despite how she wasn't wearing a mask and was obviously interacting with her birthday ads, nobody recognized the female idol.

After visiting her birthday ads, Taeyeon told her fans that it was surprisingly easy to get on the subway and that she could probably take public transportation just fine in the future.

She questioned whether people did recognize her and just pretended like they didn't, or if they really did not recognize her. Taeyeon commented that everyone was looking at their phones on the metro, so it is likely they did not notice it was her.

Soon after the post was uploaded, several Korean netizens left comments speculating why the idol was not recognized.

They commented that, in real life, Taeyeon is small and skinny. In subway stations, people are focused on getting to their train on time and leaving the station to get to their destination. Due to the busy nature, it is likely people were too caught up in their own matters and simply walked past Taeyeon.

Others commented that the idol has modest beauty, which may have helped her blend in with the crowd more.
