Recap: Sungjae's Debut With BTOB, Departure From Cube, New Contract With IWill Media

Sungjae debuted with BTOB on March 21, 2012, with their first digital single "Insane."

Apart from Sungjae, BTOB is also composed of members Eunkwang, Minhyuk, Changsub, and Hyunsik. Their name is also an acronym, meaning "Born To Beat."

On November 6, BTOB's former agency Cube Entertainment officially announced the group's departure. It announced that the members have decided not to renew their exclusive contracts and will be parting ways with the agency.

"Regarding their second exclusive contract expiration, we have decided not to renew." Cube shared. "This was concluded after in-depth discussions with BTOB members."

The decision not to renew then wrapped BTOB's 11-year journey with Cube. Following this, members Eunkwang, Minhyuk, Hyunsik, and Peniel decided to continue their activities and BTOB's group schedules under BTOB Company, which is managed by the agency DOD.

On November 22, 2023, member Changsub chose to sign an exclusive contract with Fantagio, which houses the third-gen boy group ASTRO.

Meanwhile, this was trailed by Sungjae on December 22, 2023, when the idol signed a contract with new agency IWill Media.

On April 25, Sungjae revealed the first teaser for his highly anticipated comeback. According to numerous posts online, fans were ecstatic with his upcoming first single album "EXHIBITION: Look Closely," which will be released on May 9, at 6 p.m. KST.

The album will also be Sungjae's first-ever released under his new agency IWill Media, and his first comeback ever since his departure from longtime company Cube Entertainment.
