Earlier on July 8, (G)I-DLE finally released their seventh mini album "I sway," and its title track "Klaxon." The official music video was also followed by a performance video, which gained attention across the internet due to the group's music, visuals, and styling.
The performance also gained rave reviews from Neverlands on social media and online platforms due to its summer vibe. However, some weren't happy with a certain choreography the leader, Soyeon, made during the video.
At the 1:35 mark, Soyeon lifts up her shirt and shakes her butt, which shocked many Korean netizens. Not everyone was happy with the choreography and many expressed negative reactions to Soyeon's exposure, which they considered as "excessive." Other international netizens also criticized Soyeon for the dance move.
On the other hand, the clip received more positive reactions from other netizens nonetheless. They praised Soyeon for her confidence amid the negative remarks her move has been receiving, and defended her from the critics who called her out. Here's how they reacted on X (Twitter):
"Is this the year of K-pop idols shaking a**?"
"Oh Soyeon, go make these conservative K-netz mad!"
"The new era of K-pop has started."
"That's queen attitude."
"Jeon Soyeon is killing me. I'm on my knees."
