SM Employees Criticize Taeyeon, Wendy for Alleged Power Abuse: 'They Flip the Narrative Like This' Kpop Wiki

SM Entertainment was recently under fire after Girls' Generation's Taeyeon and Red Velvet's Wendy announced that they will sit out the 30th-anniversary concert "SMTOWNLive 2025 in Seoul" on January 11-12.

The agency faced backlash for allegedly failing to help the SNSD's leader prepare a performance, as she claimed in her Bubble messages.

"They weren't able to make the preparations so due to it, I ended up not being able to do it at all," said Taeyeon.

Wendy, Red Velvet's main vocalist, also raised her brows at the late notice from the agency about her absence, despite discussing it with them long ago.

"The discussion with the company happened a month ago yet the notice only went up today," said the "Like Water" singer.

Since then, fans have been criticizing the label for the supposed lack of communication and concern for its artists.

Employees from SM Entertainment counterattacked by writing their sentiments on Blind, a forum where company staff members can post anonymously.

"It's also power (abuse) to post something like that on Bubble. Wasn't there a discussion with them before putting the lineup on the poster in the first place?" said one SM staff member.

"It's so annoying that you're holding us up like that, and now they flip the narrative like this. It's really tiring. If they are dissatisfied, please leave."

Another SM employee agreed, accusing the idols of not acting professionally by taking their grievances publicly to social media.

"Haa... I feel the same way. I'm so frustrated that I am filled with anger now. Everyone's working tirelessly last minute before the show and all they do is drop a single Bubble post," they said.

"Reading the dizzying articles, I have so much to say, but, hmm... as a senior artist, they should act like one. If you are a senior artist, then you should think more before speaking."
